Alright, here's my moveset! I took a little inspiration from Capybara Gaming Capybara Gaming 's interpretation for this one:

Intro: Cherry blossom petals blow around Sakura as she performs her signature pre-battle pose.

Stance/Idle 1: Her idle animation from the Project X Zone series.
Idle 2: Sakura slightly pushes back her hair.
Idle 3: Sakura takes out her blade for a second, then sheathes it again.

Notable Palette Swaps:
-Her pink kimono (default)
-Iris and Jean Paul (green/brown)
-Gemini Sunrise (red/brown)
-Maria Tachibana (dark blue)
-Combat outfit (alternate costume)
-Sumire’s combat outfit (purple)
-Kanna’s combat outfit (red)
-Ogami’s combat clothes (white)

Walk: Sakura walks gracefully.

Dash: Sakura sprints with her sword in hand.

Damage: Sakura covers her face with her right hand.

Jump: Sakura jumps as if she’s falling down a chute.

Crouch: Sakura sits upright with both knees on the ground.

Weapon of Choice: Reiken-Arataka, Sakura’s katana handed down to her, with which she can slice single water droplets with ease. She’s a master of the Hokushin Itto Ryu sword technique.

Normal Attacks
Jab: Sakura performs three standard jabs to the middle, and then the left and right (8%, small knockback)
Forward+A: Sakura slashes down in front of her (7%, small knockback; 10% at the tip, OK knockback)
Down+A: Sakura sweep kicks below a target’s legs, tripping them (6%, small knockback)
Up+A: Sakura swipes her katana above herself to the left (8%, small knockback)

Aerial Attacks
Air+A: Sakura slices around herself, similar to Ike’s N-Air (11%, OK knockback)
Air Forward+A: Sakura slices downward (11% with a meteor effect, OK knockback)
Air Back + A: Sakura turns around as she slices backward (14%, OK knockback)
Air Up+A: Sakura spins a mop above herself (13%, OK knockback)
Air Down+A: Sakura swings a mop downwards (16% with a meteor effect, OK knockback)

Dash Attack: Sakura speeds past the target as she slashes them (12%, OK knockback). If the target is above 100%, there is a chance they’ll be K.O.’d instantly.
Edge Attack: Sakura gets back up and slashes straight down (7%, small knockback)
Get-Up Attack: Sakura quickly sweep kicks the floor (5%, small knockback)

Smash Attacks
Forward+A: Sakura steps forward and slashes with her sword in flames (22%, medium knockback)
Up+A: Sakura jumps up and slashes twice in rapid succession (18%, OK knockback)
Down+A: Sakura slashes several cherry blossom petals around her in half (15%, OK knockback), which then swirl around her (9%, medium knockback)

Grab Game
Grab: Sakura grabs the target with both hands.
Pummel: Sakura slaps the target with her right hand (1%)
Forwards+Throw: Sakura pushes the target forward (12%, OK knockback)
Down+Throw: Sakura jumps over the target and trips them without dealing any damage.
Back+Throw: Sakura strafes around the target and slashes them (13%, OK knockback)
Up+Throw: Sakura spins once and launches the target diagonally upwards (8%, medium knockback)

Special Moves
B : Ouka Hoshin
; Sakura sends out a large pink blade projectile. It goes about the same length as Cloud’s Blade Beam, but is much faster and can hit multiple opponents at once (7% per hit, OK knockback). It also has priority over other projectiles, but getting hit by one causes it to slow down and disappear after hitting anything else (6%, small knockback)
B + Forwards : Hyakka Ryoran; Sakura dashes forward a short distance, surrounded in flame (14%, OK knockback); you can tilt the control stick in the opposite direction for a second dash (9%, OK knockback)
B + Up : Rising Sakura; Sakura floats high up in a wind of cherry blossom petals, and can do anything after before she hits the ground again. Pressing Up and B again has Sakura slice upward as she jumps upward and forward a small distance (11%, OK knockback)
B + Down : Clean Up; Sakura takes out a mop and sweeps the floor, which pushes nearby opponents away (13%, OK-medium knockback). Tilting the control stick to the left or right after initiating the attack moves Sakura in that direction, but the power and knockback decrease after a while.

Final Smash: Koubu Strike; Sakura speeds forward and slashes the target(s) (11%). The targets are then taken into a cutscene where Sakura gets into her Koubu and performs an extremely powerful Ouka Hoshin (59%, devastating knockback)

Gimmick: At certain moments, Sakura can have her attacks do 3% more damage and have slightly more knockback for 5 seconds (getting hit causes her to lose this buff). Here is when she gets this:

-From a well-timed attack
-From a Perfect Shield
-When the crowd starts cheering her name

Taunts
1: Sakura bows towards the camera.
2: Sakura performs her signature pre-battle pose.
1+2: Sakura brushes her kimono.

Winposes
1: Sakura performs her victory pose from her very first battle in the first game.
2: Sakura pushes back her hair as cherry blossom petals blow in the wind.
3: Sakura mimics her pose from the first frame of the first game’s opening.

Applause: Sakura claps quickly and happily.

Icon: One of the flowers on Sakura’s kimono.

Boxing Ring Title: Imperial Floral Hero

Star K.O.: “Oooogamiii…!”

Victory Music: https://youtu.be/Vr14LlDeLDo

Kirby Hat: Sakura’s hair and katana.

Okay, I don't mean to triple post, but how do you think Sakura's trailer would go down? All I know is that it'd be a missed opportunity if the tagline wasn't

Sakura
Takes the Stage!
I wouldn't care as long as we got a sick new mix of Geki Teikoku Kagekidan :D

You know I was thinking it could be like Terry's...

It starts showing the timeline of consoles, then it zooms in on the Nintendo 64... Suddenly it goes back two years on a very specific console.
Suddenly this logo appears:

I think you know where I'm going with this. ;)

I'll be honest, friends - I feel like Sakura is going to get in.... but only as a Mii costume, along with other SEGA characters like Gilius, Alis, and Axel Stone.

Whoever beats sonic gets the invite

They'll use whatever sprite or modles they have of the characters so its extra comedy

TBQH, I'd rather not have her Mii Costume in this game, really - considering how they have really been more meaningful to indie characters and watching Sakura be reducing to this "museum exhibit of videogame history" that none would not care about for obvious reasons... I rather let her series keep some dignity from that.

The perfect scenario is another SEGA character with SNK like music and spirit collection from their history, several mii costumes, and Segata Sanshiro mii costume with his theme song.

But given the choice between Mii costume or nothing, wouldn't you rather the franchise at least get a little love?
Yet she'd be just dime a dozen among many other IPs featured as Mii Costumes. If anything that confirmed me such was how Konami's Goemon was given exactly this treatment you're talking about... which is pretty standard fare compared to :nessecho: popping in Smash instead. Same for Cuphead and to lesser extent, the Vault Boy. Not to mention they've received more long-term love than most of other Mii Costumes have from the fandom as well. :ohwell:

I've long felt people here have been overstating this strange importance of "value" for Mii Costumes due acting as these being this"acknowledgement" or "getting love from Smash/Sakurai that way", when most of the time, they just end up short-term fanservice to the actual fans of the series at best (or consolation prices at worst to people rallying for the characters represented in these costumes) - while ending up glossed over by the general Smash community due being well, Mii-centric Costumes... unless it's an indie character, which due their general roots compared to commercial videogaming industry, is kind of a big deal.

Having been introduced to Sakura Wars via other means and watching it get plenty of love through Project x Zone, and now us having the reboot installment + fan translation for 1st game... I think Smash giving the series "representation" through Mii Costume would just feel pretty paling in comparison, reducing the series to just this another way for Smash Bros to claim it gets to represent some form of "videogame history" through relatively low-resources efforts that'd only be acknowledged for a week or two at best. Doesn't sound exactly compelling to me.

I can’t see her being a Mii Costume, she’s much too big of a deal in Japan to just be relegated to that and I don’t think that audience would take that well.

Reminder paid Mii Costumes are usually smaller characters or ones like Heihachi who had problems being implemented properly into the roster. Sakura is neither of those and her legacy and impact is immeasurable so just seeing her relegated to a Mii Costume in the vein of someone like Goemon or those indie characters doesn’t feel at all like the right decision.

To me it’s honestly playable or nothing from my eyes.

Yeah, the surface has barely been scratched at all, since we've yet to actually hit any of the characters Sega owned before the Platinum and Atlus deals, except Sonic.

At the very least, a Mii costume is an assurance of "better luck next time", since it would show that the devs might be able to consider them by the next game.

I honestly wish they would stop with showing characters "failing" to join Smash. It felt bad with Chrom, it felt bad with Kyo, it felt bad with Spring Man and would certainly feel bad with whoever "fails" next.

It also risks backlash over the "winner": Robin's trailer ruined him/her forever for me, I can't fully enjoy Terry despites always liking him before Smash and I still don't feel like buying the 2nd pass.

Not that any of that would ruin Sakura for me, but I'd rather they'd never do things this way ever again.

Why don't we make a game out of it?

Give us a character, a stage, 16 other SEGA music pieces, and 5 Mii costumes.

My set?

Character: Sakura Shinguji
Stage: Grand Imperial Theater

Other Music Pieces:
1. Message from Nightopia
2. Main Theme (Shenmue)
3. The Wilderness
4. Mexican Flyer
5. Let Mom Sleep
6. Rise and Fall
7. Vyse's Theme
8. Go Straight! (Streets of Rage II)
9. Monkey Island
10. Angels with Burning Hearts
11. Tragedy ~ A.M.S. Agent
12. Chant this Charm! (Theme of Giant Egg)
13. Idaten (Shinobi III)
14. Ride the Tiger
15. Theme of Puyo Puyo
16. Funk Goes On

Mii Costume 1: Axel Stone from Streets of Rage (Brawler)
Mii Costume 2: Gilius Thunderhead from Golden Axe (Swordfighter)
Mii Costume 3: Ulala from Space Channel 5 (Gunner)
Mii Costume 4: Alis from Phantasy Star (Swordfighter)
Mii Costume 5: Kazuma Kiryu from Yakuza (Brawler)

Would've liked to include things from Valkyria Chronicles and Space Harrier but I didn't have any space with my ruleset left. :(

16 songs is too hard I cant do this.
Plus you're music list missing iconic arcade songs (Sprinter, Splash Wave, Space Harrier theme, Sky high, etc)

I literally can’t decide on just 16 songs because there’s too many good ones to choose from from SEGA alone

I was thinking the Imperial Theater could have songs from other SEGA RPGs like Skies of Arcadia and Valkyria Chronicles, hell I could even see songs from other famous Saturn franchises like Virtua Fighter and Nights (In that case please add Ride the Tiger and Nights and Reala as songs)

I was just thinking of something.

What would you guys think if the special thing behind the Imperial Theater stage would be that the background characters sing their respective songs depending on the music?

You can fight me on this, but Virtual-On at least deserves to have a version of "In the Blue Sky" somewhere in there. The franchise has multiple games, crossovers, audio dramas, manga, etc. It was the pioneer for (good) arena fighting games, it's influence even reaching that of titans like Gundam and Final Fantasy. In the 2016 SEGA survey (The same survey that lead to New Sakura Wars, mind you) not only did Virtual-On place at #3 of most hoped revival, Temjin was also #7 in favorite character, just barely beating out Arle.

Even if you still disagree, you have to admit that In the Blue Sky SLAPS:

Anyway, after months of saving and a very, very lucky deal presented itself to me, I finally got a PC so I can play SW1. Looking forward to talking about it with you all once I beat it.

It was quite tough, but thanks to some video editing stuff I managed to turn the in-game ringtone of the new Sakura Wars Game (the one which sounds when you get text messages from the other characters) into my IRL ringtone.

It is quite cool when you get It to work.

Good list, Id change the Shining Force song to Wandering Warrior. Sky High from Daytona USA song should be in their since SEGA's racing games are too iconic. maybe the SEGA March song from SEGAGAGA as well.

The "I'd die for you" song from The Rub Rabbits is sort of a meme in japan so id suggest that in there too.

I also feel a Serani Poji song is appropriate since she was a fake singer SEGA composers created for SEGA WAVEMASTER music label, the songs were actually composed by Tomoko Sasaki who did the music for Ristar and NiGHTS. She was also behind the Ashley Song remix in brawl.

Roomania#203 feature most of Poji's discography. As for what song, idk which is most popular, personally I like this one:

Just curious, what would Sakura’s Spirit Board look like? I made a Spirit for Kohran a while back:

Spirit: Kohran Li
Class: :starman::starman:
Spirit Type: Support
Effect: Fire/Explosion Resist

Opponent: Giant :ultrob: (green)
Conditions:

-The enemy is weak to fire/explosion attacks

I imagine that like in other games that have Sakura wars characters in it they would try to give the spirit board equal representation from across the series.

Having Ogami, Shinji, Kamiyama, Gemini and Erica all getting spirit battles.

With the whole imperial assault force as the legendary spirit.

You see I’m not sure because all the Sakura Wars games have so many characters, and since quite a few of them are very popular (Sumiere, Maria, and Kohran for example) it would be weird seeing some of them get excluded, but at the same time it’s usually up to 12 Spirits that are included...

Maybe the casts of the first game and the reboot? (But I also can’t see Gemini and Erica not being Spirits so then what would the tally be?)

That's why I suggested that the first games team would be the legendary spirit, like the Phantom thieves in Jokers board.

Maybe Sumire gets her own individual spirit due to her involvement with both the original cast and the new cast, being an anchor that ties both together.

7. Kanna Kirishima

I think Kamiyama and Shinji should get spirits too, since they are the player avatars of their games.

While we are talking about spirits I was bored and made a spirit board a while back I have no solid ideas for specific battles but I have a general Idea on who should portray each character (Hence the icon)
