Ask a Simple Question Get a Simple Answer: Brawl+ and Hacking Style

I'm stealing Panda's topic for Brawl+ because it seems we are getting many new topics asking simple questions and cluttering the board. Hacking your Wii and Brawl+ are very new for many players and many of us want to help you enjoy the experience as much as possible so try and ask any simple questions here in this topic.

Here are some typical questions I see:

1. Can you add characters/Mewtwo/Roy/etc. into Brawl?

Yes and no. We can not add completely new characters with their own unique movesets. We also can't put Mewtwo in the game, even though there is some data traces of him on the disk. What we can do is costume hacks to replace one of your characters costumes with your own design. A popular one would be Ike to Roy or Sonic to Shadow.

2. Can I play online with these codes?

Once again, Yes and no. If you and your friends have the same codes then you can play online together. A few codes aren't usable online and cause freezes. The biggest one that is UNUSABLE online is the music hack. If you want to play online with a music hack then it is best to change all the music back.

3. Can I get names in replays?

No

4. Can I play Normal Brawl with a hacked Wii/Hacked Brawl?

Yes. Brawl+ and similar hacks run through the Homebrew Channel. If you want to play original Brawl just load the game up as you always did before.

5. Will hacking my Wii to play Brawl+ or to use simple hacks (like infinite replay time) mess up my Wii?

No. Just follow the instructions and you will be fine. The worst thing that could happen is Nintendo can 'stealth' delete you Homebrew Channel. In no way will you jeopardize your Wii by hacking it as described in the following topic:

This thread is a great idea! There are too many people who have questions, and these people don't want to take time to read anything (which is why they have questions in the first place, usually). It should keep the clutter down, rather than adding to it.

While many codes exist to make brawl closer to its predecessor, many of them exist simply to put into brawl things that should be a staple to the series- Dash Dancing, L-cancling, combos, etc.

Running Jump is basic physics applied and it isn't in regular brawl, for example.

So, shorter, no, it isn't trying to be melee 2.0; it's trying to be Brawl 2.0 a.k.a. Brawl w/depth

I know that, but people dont. When they see B+, they immediately think that. Which is why I'm saying we should make it painfully obvious.

I have a question. Luigi's Mansion hasn't worked for me in forever... I heard there's a fix called My Music fix but I have no idea what it is.

Also don't forget about tweeking up Marth's moveset to accomodate that of Roy's, and then making it linked to one Alternate Costume.

I have a question concerning the Homebrew Save Extractor:

I want to use this to backup my Brawl, Animal Crossings, and Mario Kart data, however, it says "use with caution".

Is there anything I should know about before using this?
