What is Marth's appropriate DI to C.Falcon's upthrow? I know DI would be different at different percentages, but everyone knows theres a percentage where marth's hit-stun lasts for a long time which prevents you from defending falcon's following up-air (or knee if you're not paying attention)

Yeah thats usually what I do as well, can't seem to escape the up throw. Seems like its unavoidable to get hit.

In my experience, Falcon is guaranteed an uair from like 20-50% if he dthrow.

You DI away from Falcon at low percentages. At around 70%, he'll probably start uthrowing instead of dthrow -- it depends. If you DI his Uthrow away at this percentage, you're guaranteed to be knee'd. So.... if he uthrow from like 65-100%, you want to DI up. If he dthrows, you should be DIing away. If he dthrow you at 70% and you DI up, you're going to get knee'd. It's a bit of a guessing game I guess.

u'll get kneed no matter what DI at 65%+. The fastest escape from uthrow knee is from away DI (magus proved it in the falcon boards a while back). If they wanted to, they could uthrow knee you at 65%+ when you DI up, but probably dont realize they can and just uair or something.

Just confirmed this, GOD THAT IS ******** ROflll. Thanks sveet! now i know if im facing a competent player, ill DI to survive the attack instead of DI'ing away >>. Got caught a couple of times doing that and dying at some ridic percentages.

Note to self, don't get grabbed at 60% +

Really? You can get uthrow knee at 80%+?

Can you link me? I've not met a Falcon who does it to me :p.

And if they dthrow you and you DI away, is that a knee as well?

i find that sometimes when you DI in against falcon, it'll throw him off (i'm not saying to do it a majority of the time, but it's a nice mixup in my experience) because he's so fast, he can follow you pretty well alot of the time if you di away

I use a variety of different DI's vs Falcon.

DIing towards a platform and possibly teching after an up throw can make the falcon work harder. I'll go for a platform usually if one is nearby.

Just mix it up and hope he reacts poorly
I think 31% is the magic number for UThrow -> Uair
High 60s is Uthrow -> knee, mid 80s is Dthrow -> knee

Most important thing is to not get predictable in DI because of Uair and Knee mixups
Usually your default should be DI away + slightly down to try to escape combos and react to a knee with survival DI

If he throws you and you're in that combo range you should vary between away, toward, and no DI ... sometimes you might get lucky and he'll miss

If you're on the edge getting throw -> knee'd you should probably DI toward the stage and try to make him reverse it

Upthrow gets a guaranteed knee until like 70%. Your best bet is to mix up your DI between behind and in front so he has to actually react (and thus can mess up) rather than simply know where you're going to DI.
Dthrow -> down and away.
Uairs -> away & up slightly.

EDIT: TAI's quote also supports my strategy. :p

the best player in england is a falcon and i live 30 mins away from him so i get plently of falcon MU one thing that i have learned over the 4 years of playing him is that when you DI try to hit certain airs / >B to shift the speed when in the air one thing i do its DI + Bair because they bair has a fast falling speed and marth moves slightly back its not a sure thing you should do but it always has worked for me .

falcon when throwing can go for ctsick knees or normal a/z knees + his mometum off the half jumps / full jumps is always nasty

soemtimes knees are just unavoidable especially since marth is so light in pal . so sometimes i di to the most part of the stage just to survive it
