You will likely pay too much for tix booking too far in advance. wait til 4 months or less. book on a Tuesday during the day, generally cheapest time to actually buy the tickets. obviously don't fly on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday if you can help it. Take the ****tiest time to fly, it's usually cheaper.

A ticket to Peru 4 months from now costs $1000
A ticket to Peru 6 months from now costs $600
I got my ticket to Peru 8 months ago, and it was cheaper than those prices. It has not gone down in price since I bought it. It has actually steadily increased by at least $300
Japan tickets are like $1000 if you buy them a year in advance, and they go up about $100 a month.

You have 2 options to get cheap tickets:
Buy them really early,
Buy them 30 minutes before they start boarding
