I recently popped in my Champions: Return to Arms game and it seems that it has acquired too many scratches for it to be read my my ps2. Does anyone have some tried and true methods to removes some scratches? I've heard of the toothpaste trick, but I don't buy it.

First off- Don't use tooth paste. It is ebrasive.
Second, you can't physically descratch CD's unless you get them professionally refinished.
What you do is take a soft, possibly damp cloth, and wipe it down in a straight line, not circularly. If it doesn't work the only thing you can really do is go to a store and get it refinished.
Often times, discs can get a circle scratch wherein the disc holder of a system makes an imprint on the disc after the console has been repositioned. If this happened, you're pretty boned.

I was given a melee disc that was too scratched to read and i got versus working by using braso and toothpaste(1P is still unreadable) . if you do apply these do what Wretched said and polish it in straight lines not circles. Good luck getting it working.
