Any Characters Banned from Tourneys?

Certain stages are banned because people hate them or they're considered cheap, and I was wondering if the same philosophy applied to characters. I would be surprised if any characters were banned though.

No characters are banned from normal tournament play.

Generally speaking, players are tolerant of stages being banned much more so than with characters.

The closest character to being banned is MK. But that most likely won't happen.

Mk wont be banned because nobody good enough to beat him really whines about him.

OS had a giant pissfest about him and now he plays him, and I have to say his Mk is perhaps the most boring and lame I've ever seen.

That video made me chuckle. Mostly because skill does mean a lot more than character selection, and the people that complain about MK being too cheap are the people that don't understand that.

Some tourneys ban Meta Knight actually, Deez's tourney had him banned and so did Hat's. But in general, Meta Knight is usually legal. Honestly, I wouldn't care if he got banned or not, I need to work on my Kirby instead of down-smash spamming to win tourney matches, xD

Only char that is even in discussion about being banned is mk and any good player knows how to fight against him that i don't think mk will ever be banned. Noob no names whine about mk but any pro knows how to fight against him.

Specific tournaments will mention if he is banned but as for now there is no comprehensive ban on any character in smash brothers history.
