Also, you're not the only retail store that's thrown tournaments. Powerplay Gaming took no money out of the pot and just charged venue fee. Terrabyte used to take 20% out of the pot.

It is for Super smash Bros. Brawl. We may be changing them to Saturday afternoon/evenings. We will keep it updated here.

As far as charging a venue fee and taking nothing from the pot is concerned. That was suggested to us. The suggested amount was that we charge a $3-$5 venue fee per player. There are two reasons why we decided against doing that.

1- We wanted to keep the cost affordable for all players interested not just the ones who can afford to spend more money.
2- Taking 50% of the current entry fee works out to be $2.50 per player which is considerably less than what players had suggested for us to charge as a venue fee.

Well, valid reasons on your part, but it does a disservice to anyone who actually goes with the intention of winning by having such a large amount of pooled money taken out, especially with the prize money for 2nd being so close to first. It's not a big deal, you're a business, do what you have to.

Melee is possible if there are enough players interested. Tournament design is flexible based on what the majority of players showing up on a consistent basis.

We may change these event to Saturday afternoons if enough players are interested in the change. We are thinking of arounf a 4:00 start time.

Everything else would remain the same. We are remodeling the back of the store and currently have a row of seven tube tv's lined up.

Let us know if there is an interest in the use of the Tournament Organizing software or if you like the brackets posted on the wall better.

We can host any video game tournaments players are interested in. Just contact us and we will see what we can do.

Hope to see you at the events...All In One Collectibles

We are going to be switching these events to Saturdays at 4:00 beginning next week June 26th.

I actually like the prize pot breakdown suggested by "TheOriginalSmasher".

The new prize distribution will be:
1st: 30%
2nd:20%
3rd: 10%

Entry fee will remain the same $5 per player. As the player base grows we will be willing to listen to suggestions of the attending players for Rules, and entry fees.

idk, 1st place pot is so close to 2nd place pot, at least a 20% percent difference. maybe 3rd place should't get part of the pot due to the number of entrants, suggestion, aka" Oscar"

The payout is terrible. The only way to encourage attendence from anyone on here who matters is to charge a venue fee and leave the pot alone. Still, doing this would most likely make the current attendents not enter since they aren't competitive players(whether they think they are good or not is irrelevent. They aren't). There really isn't much the owner can do from that standpoint.

The pot is one thing, but last time I went we were doing single elimination.....another no XD

Most tournaments cost a player ~$40 for the weekend. $10 in singles, $10 in teams, $5-$10 venue fee, then gas and food.

I don't think players are going to mind if you just charged $5 per player in singles and teams, an event you definitely need to include, and then a $5 venue fee. That's still cheaper than any tournament by far.

Double elimination is a must.

$30 for first place in a 20 person tourney. that's pretty *** if you ask me. Go by how things go for normal tournies and you'll see a large turnout.

It's $60 for first place out of 20 people using my reduced entry fee idea. That's enough. Adding teams also makes the amount of winnable money go up considerably.

He can keep his tournaments at his preferred cheaper price without making the winners get nothing.

As I said, it's really bad. Still, if he goes by our rules it will probably cause his current players to not attend since they are bad. This means that he changes his rules to fit the needs of a lot more people, but with no gaurantee that anyone will still actually go. Then the randoms that are currently the store's brawls players don't enter either. Kinda a lose lose

In my opinion, for those who are just looking for the money,

I'd think they would make you pay a lot more for a bigger pot if this was for the money.

I may be jumping to conclusions, but I think this is more of a fun like tourney, and not a serious one.

Money is an incentive to travel and spend your own money on gas, food, and tourny expenses. Not to mention spending one's time doing all this in the first place.

That was quite possibly the dumbest post I've ever read. I hope that was a second account used for lols and not serious comments.

Couldn't agree more. If i'm spending a good chunk of money to play the same people i've been playing for two+ years in such a difficult region, there needs to be a reasonable reward.

People wouldn't travel if they are going to make that low of money. Atleast, most people. This is more of a friendly / fun tournament, and not a serious one.

My entry fee suggestions keep it "fun and friendly" since it'll be half the cost of a normal tournament, but the winners will still make something.

Oh my god......please read the beginning of the thread. The owner is pushing for "more competitive play" as he stated already. They already have scrub friendly events on friday. I'm pointing out, as well as other people pointing stuff out, that needs to be changed in order to make his current ruleset good for competitive play since that was the goal in his first post. Please learn to comprehend the words people use before posting back to me.

Oh wow. He wants competitive play and isn't taking any of the competitive player's advice on how to have a tourney with better competitive play? This is more of a joke than the LOLpanel!

We are paying out 60% of the pot and the events are already double elimination.

We also have 6 tube tv's available for use along one 25 foot long wall.

There is noe reason for this thread to have posts with fabricated information about us from people who don't know the facts about our business.

You don't seem to get it. If you're trying to have higher level of competitive gaming, you're going to have to cater to the higher level competitive gamers. We don't want to travel to fight for $25, assuming it's a 20 person tournament. Leave the pot alone and charge a venue fee. You'll make more money that way anyway.

Why won't you listen to my suggestions? You'd still cost 50% as much as a normal tournament but the competition would be real.

I'm trying to make your events actually something people would want to go to, and you're not listening. I'm not one of the people trolling you.

Every time I've been there it has been pushed for Single elimination. Actually when I went to hang out with orion there, you specifically said for us to do single elimination when we had set up the bracket as double.

The only "fabricated" information was from the troll account that got banned anyway.

. I'm not one of the people trolling you.
Who is? One person who got banned anyway? Yes and I have both stated things to help out his events. I don't think many people want to put down a possible venue.

the last time i was there it was single elim as well. :/

i believe you that it has been double elim, its just a natural concern people dont want to risk money on losing once in a already risk favored game loloololol

I'm not sure how to make it any clearer.

THE TOURNAMENTS ARE SCHEDULED TO BE DOUBLE ELIMINATION ALREADY.

We are more than willing to listen to suggestions from players who are showing up to the events. We are not going to make changes that current players don't want based on the possability of others players coming.

We have put the offer out there for any interested players. It seems a little like the highest level competitive players have very little concern for others.

Maybe the "Smash Community" would be able to expand a little if some of the better players tried to help the weaker ones instead of wanting every event to be catered to them. some of you need to understand that not every kid who plays wants to spend a ton of money to get wiped out in five minutes.

As stated previously the events will be running on Saturdays 4:00 with 60% payout to 1st,2nd and 3rd place.

$5 entry fee

Hope to see some of you there to talk about possible upgrades
