Last Saturday, April 3rd, 2010, I went with my friends to Anime Boston, a convention in…well, Boston. It was my first convention, and I’ve gotta say, it was pretty epic.
I went as Megumi Kitaniji from The World Ends With You, with my friends going as BJ from The World Ends With You and Anise from Tales of the Abyss. My friend who went as BJ was initially going to go as James from Team Rocket, but his Jessie found out the Tuesday before that she wouldn’t be able to go, so he had to fall back on his BJ cosplay. (He could’ve gone as James solo, but he didn’t want to.)
I don’t have too much else to say, except that it was a lot of fun and I can’t wait to go to another convention (I’m likely going to go to ConnectiCon for at least one day, possible more depending on my work schedule).
Now for my photo dump (with captions):
My friend and I with a trio of TWEWY cosplayers we found in the Dealer’s Room. I don’t know why BJ looks like he’s going to kill me, that was not on purpose.
This was a Magikarp costume made completely out of duct tape and win.
A particularly good female Marik we ran into. She even has her tongue sticking out.
This was a pretty good Kaiba we ran into, right after the Marik, ironically.
Me emulating the pose in this picture, second row, second from the left.
An Alakazam, Gengar, and Jigglypuff, with the Alakazam interacting with someone else via PokéWalker. There were a TON of people with PokéWalkers there, people shouting out “PokéWalkers!” to get people to interact with them and get gifts.
My friend with a fellow BJ we ran into.
Two rather good Dark Paladins.
Do I really need to say it? Of course I do. Prepare yourself, ‘cause he fights for his friends, so you’ll get no sympathy from him. [/every Ike meme ever]
A pretty good Beat we encountered in the Dealer’s Room.
A nine-tailed demon fox from Naruto. I actually didn’t know what it was from until my friends told me, but that costume was hella creepy and really good.
A remote-control Magikarp someone was driving around.
Bug Catcher wants to fight!
Wild Luxray appeared!
This Mario was really good, especially her F.L.U.D.D.
Lawl, we asked these three for their picture and the Edgeys immediately shoved Phoenix on the ground and assumed this pose. Poor Feenie.
Dante from Devil May Cry.
A picture of just my friend and I, with me emulating another one of Megumi’s poses.
The group shot from the Tales of the Abyss photoshoot. We got a LOT of pictures from this photoshoot, but not having played the game yet myself, I don’t understand any of the jokes, references, and what have you, so I’m just sticking with the group shot.
(My friend is the one in pink, third from the left.)
A rather epic close-up of BJ.
This was a pretty good Zelda/Link Twilight Princess style duo. Unfortunately, we didn’t get a chance to stop them so we just took a picture from a distance.
BJ and I with a really good Konishi we found.
A pretty good Double-Dee from Ed, Edd, and Eddy who walked past us while we were eating.
Okay, these Communist Russian dudes were really dedicated. They were up in that window starting around 10 o’ clock-ish, and I never saw them leave.
The Communist Russian guys from up in window.
WAAAAABBAAAAAAFFEEEET! (The Wobbuffet plushie I bought.)
A would-be epic shot of my friend and I standing by a railing, except for that sign RIGHT THERE which I swear was a complete accident. Well, okay, it’s still epic, the sign is just a little…lulzy.
These two girls did a really good Hare Hare Yukai dance. About five seconds after they finished I realized that I should’ve taken a video. (The girl you can see much better only did one round of it, the one who’s blocked actually did three whole rounds, she was really good.)
A rather good Sonic.
An epic Ace Attorney group we ran into, all of them were really good.
Professor Oak with a Togepi egg!
Wild MissignNo. Appeared!
Alright, we were literally just getting ready to leave and we ran into this Batman. He was TOTALLY LEGIT. His costume was the real deal, material and all, and you can’t hear it (obviously) but he had the voice down PERFECTLY. If they were to cast him in the next Batman movie I don’t think you’d be able to tell the difference.
