Who's to say that ALL matches will 4 person and 2 minutes... you must realize that the selection screen was from the demo where the options could not be changed... it's still very possible that they will use the regular selection screen which would include all the regular options (stock, coin, stamina, ect)...

What the update didn't explain was whether or not you can control the number of players... when one player joins you could just press start to have a 1v1... unless you HAVE to wait for the timer to run out... and even then... what if only 1 other person joins? (unlikely I know... but possible...)

This update was far too vague for us to make conclusions that ALL matches will be 2-minute KO fests with items and 4 players...

There's a theory that accumulating coins will be a form of ranking for online play.

And I am stoked about online play.
That makes no sense since you bet coins on online matches. So the highest ranked person could be a good guesser that got lucky on a large bet. Not going to happen.

The funniest thing about this whole update, for me, is that I probably won't ever use this feature. If I want to play online it'll be to hook up with my pals late at night when nobody's up for shifting to somebody's house. Playing against random people really never interested me that much. It'd be nice, but I know that if there was a score to be kept, people would be ***** about logging off and stuff, just like in Phantom Hourglass or Mario Kart. So I'm actually glad there's no score to be kept on "Everyone" mode.

Everyone of the matches he shows is 2 minutes. It's just so that they have time to take the screen shots they want for the updates. It's no big deal.

Dont be dumb, we know half of the things on the dojo from something that wasnt mentioned. We could change those things by pressing the bar in Vs mode, what makes you think we couldnt in this mode. If he did show us how to do it, we would all say no duh sakuria.

I will argue against this to death if I have to. No, that is the demo select screen and stages, and I am 100% positive. Why? Because Zelda and Snake are seen in subsequent screenshots, and this fact causes you to shoot yourself in the foot about "Sakurai's clearly playing a near-final build of the game, and he wouldn't go out of his way to change the character selection screen for screenshots." So he wouldnt go out of his way to change the screenshots of the select screens, yet would go out of his way to load up the final roster just go get Snake and Zelda in the screenshots? Exactly.

Having Snake and Zelda means that he chose the characters in the gameplay screenshots from the final roster screen, and he obviously didnt want to show it. And its also very possible that the starting roster includes one more newcomer or veteran that he hasnt profiled yet, and didnt want to show it because of that character. So it is very likely that the team loaded up their demo and took screenshots from that...

Kirby and Zelda will be starters, make no mistake.
I'm ready to argue over it lol. The demo character screen and this one are very different. This one has buttons to change the item and stage options, a leave button, a timer till the match starts, and seeking where players 2-4 will be once it finds them online. and no, the devs wont be photoshopping screenshots, its too much work for a daily blog when the team needs to work on the game.

As for subsequent screenshots, Mario is there as player 1, the person player 1 was choosing in the character selection screenshot. the other players, while unlockables, were chosen by a different person on a different system who unlocked them already. to get a screen for the website without unlocked characters, they just had to start a new file on a system and hop online, but the systems they connected to had unlocked characters. Just cause Kirby is Kirby doesnt mean he has to be a starter. you simply unlock him in the first stage of the SE. think of it as enticing ppl to start adventure mode.
