Also not sure if its been said but his forward throw seems to have quality over quantity this time, less shadow balls, but bigger.

I hope there is an increase in Mewtwo's speed. His lack of speed back in melee kinda sucked.

Also in Mewtwo's trailer, I noticed that he used confusion while Charizard was using fly, causing Charizard to stop. Could this mean that you could cancel recoveries by using confusion? That sure would make the move more useful than it was back in Melee.

The Shadow Mewtwo coloring honestly looks like they put his tail color on his body, and his body color on his tail. If the light green palette is his "Shiny" reference, they didn't change his eye color.

Overall, I'm really excited for Mewtwo. Going to be practicing him a lot as soon as he releases. It'll be nice to have a character that I play with a scary meteor. (Going by the trailer.)

So I'm trying to do a gamexplain style analysis of Mewtwo from his smash bros page and trailer. If found a couple of things. His tail is closer to his body. He can act really quickly out of teleport and side-b. The hitbox on his fair looks bigger, which is good considering it's one of his best kill moves. His neutral B seems to launch better. His speed seems better to match the rest of the characters, but it seems like he'll be far from the fastest. Finally, a picture shows him after using disable on Little Mac. Little Mac, as we know, is one of the shorter characters in the game, which might mean that his down special was fixed to be easier to hit.

I apologize if any of these have been covered. I posted this to my region's facebook page and pasted it here.

Do keep in mind.
The animation for Mewtwo's air dodge and teleport recovery are very similar. The part when Mewtwo attacked Zelda and Palutena was actually an air-dodge into n-air, not u-special into n-air. Let's hope, however, that Mewtwo gains the privilege to act out of teleport.

I'm kind of concerned about Shadow Ball... Its jagged path is less "radical" this time around, and it looks way slower... Hopefully it has more knockback and deals more damage.

the scene there he do use UpB behind Megaman appears to not be that thanks to he has his "arms crossed special falling animation" and animation when he lands he unfold he crossed armed

The best way to get clear visual of Mewtwo's shadow ball from the trailer is when he uses it on Duck Hunt. Duck Hunt is pretty fast character, but the shadow ball managed to strike it anyway. I'd say it's still pretty fast. Nevertheless, I'll study it later on.

Teleport now has a purple GFX surrounding Mewtwo just before it vanishes and moves, and as it reappears, while its airdodge now has a yellow halo effect upon Mewtwo disappearing. Airdodge also lasts far less than it did in Melee. It's very clear which is which now.

My only wish now is that he's a heavier character. I'll probably play him regardless, though.

Just watched it. You are right, but he still lands afterwards.

If his last taunt isn't the creepy laugh, I might actually not buy him. Yeah. I'm not afraid to say it.

To all those saying he lands. He doesn't.

It looks like he lands I know but there's 2 reasons why he doesn't land.

1. Landing from an air dodge at that height would cause him to go into air dodge lag, which doesn't happen in the video.

2. He is doing a slowly rising N-Air, this can only happen by retaining the momentum from a Double Jump, if it would have been a Short/Full Jop then Mewtwo would have risen much faster.

Mewtwo crosses his arm after almost any attack in the air and stays that way. Look at when he performs back-air or down-air. Having arms crossed doesn't means he is in special falling animation. That said, I expect Mewtwo to still go into special falling animation after teleport.

Shadow Ball seems much faster if you ask me. Before some characters could outrun it. Here you can clearly see Duck Hunt not even close to outrunning it.

It seems to be much less jagged though.

Side-B (Confusion) did cancel Charizard's recovery and Mewtwo double-jumped but could have easily followed up with a now speedier spike instead! Mewtwo might be a really great edgeguarder against characters with slower or predictable recoveries and easily get the kill with good enough aim! What confusion lacks in range it makes up for in priority! Exclamation mark! (I'm excited)

It has the same amount of Shadow Balls, 5. They definitely are bigger (which hopefully means they will actually hit instead of all miss) and the throw itself seems to happen much faster.

Edit: I just updated the first post to include everything that has been discussed so far. Also edited the thread title to better reflect what we're doing here.

why SideB has the highest priority is that SideB is a command grab! no matter the armour on the opponent, he will grab!
but I hope that the hitstun after the sideB so the opponent are open for any attacks

It looks like Mewtwo crouches low enough to avoid Dark Pit's arrow in one of the screenshots here.

Mewtwo had a notoriously terrible crouch in Melee so I think this might be a pretty major buff.

Yea I just saw that. To be completely honest I don't remember Mewtwo's crouch like at all. I will take your word on it and say it's buffed.

Also Melee Back Throw and Melee Taunt confirmed!!!

Darn, I wish he would be revamped. I'm a little disappointed that he's like melee.

Most people (about 4/5 of the community) myself included are thankful he didn't get revamped.
Don't you want him to have new moves and animations? (im not talking about the voice femtwo thing, i like my mewtwo evil)I never liked confusion and that flippy over b thing. Love the character but they had an opportunity to make him fresh and new. Its like they grabbed him out of the dusty utility closet and dusted him off.

Wouldn't you agree?

The only reason I think he will be able to attack out of teleport is because the short time that he is in the air afterwards he is folding his arms, something he does when he can attack in the air, such as after he hits luigi with bair. not sure yet though

Folding his arms was also his animation for special fall after Up-B. That doesn't tell us anything.

I would have been ok with Over-B and Down-B being revamped. I even would have been ok with his Up-Tilt or Up-Air being revamped. But I would have been really pissed if Neutral-B, Up-B, Double Jump, Neutral-Air, Down-Tilt, Down-Smash, Back-Air, Down-Air, Neutral-Air, or any of his throws (except maybe Forward-Throw) changed in the slightest bit.

I am truly happy they just chose to remake him, polish him and balance/buff him.

Wait, what? Where? I saw the Imgur album and didn't see the pictures of those moves!

Edit: Nevermind, I saw it! It's in the Gematsu page. SO AWESOME! Back Throw is so cool. HYPE

Oh i notice something on foward aerial.

I think its a diagonal slash instead of horizontial slash

And i see a hint that it may be slightly slower slash this time, thus making it easier to hit with that one.

It hasn't been shown on a video, we can't really gauge the speed. It does look like he slashes farther away from himself, this giving the move more range.

I think his Dash Attack and Jab are going to suck again :(... They didn't look very powerful or useful in the trailer.

Hmm, regarding this picture:

I don't think that's Mewtwo's crouch, his foots doing something weird and uncomfortable (EDIT: Oh wait got his right hand and right leg confused whoops! Looks more like a crouch now but the smoke is throwing me off a tad) and he's emitting smoke, I think he's just landed. Also Dark Pit's arrow seems to have been shot from the air, while Dark Pit was landing. I certainly hope his crouch has been buffed though, Rosalina can get pretty low...and crawl. I dunno if Mewtwo would/should crawl though, he has too much dignity for that.

The disrespect is real in that move. He looks away in complete disinterest with his palm outstretched.
I propose we now call this throw "Talk to the hand". If it still KOs well it will be even more awesome.

Although, how would you feel if Mewtwo got weaker kill throws for better smashes?
