lol, but I think it's a good effort on the OP's part to further rid the almost unwarranted hate on Smash and its "competitive" side.

In Sephiroth's hands.
People need to do their homework. Especially when making claim such as...

BUT WHAT EXACTLY IS A TIER LIST?
Some of you might know, some of you might *THINK* you know, some of you might not have any idea at all, but whatever the case may be, I think its time someone explained exactly what the tier list is.
When the poster doesn't know exactly what a Tier list is himself.

eh....cut the guy some slack.

at least someone's attempting to inform non-competitive players about competitive play in a way that doesn't cause a huge uproar of hate on the scene.

either way, someone should at least attempt it.

so far thats the only persons "explaning" competitive play in smash that hasn't turned into a "tiers are 4 queers" crap and/or some other attempt from the non-competitivess at attacking the scene.

actually if you really think about it, getting competitive smash "accepted/acknowledged" in a better view at a place like IGN could be very VERY good for the community.

stop and think about it for a second; IGN is the largest Video game news site on the web, and alot of their editors even get chances to talk with nintendo's developers in person.

if the community of IGN overall, whether its the forum posters, or the editors doing all the articles(better ot get both) start showing competitive play in smash bros in a better view, nintendo themselves might eventually at least acknowledge the community in a better light as well.

I don't think some forum posters accepting competitive smash on IGN is going to affect Nintendo's view on it in any way whatsoever. If any site were to do that it'd be this one.

lol at Samus going even with Snake.

Anyway yea if competitive smash starts getting accepted by 'casual' players, a developer like Sakurai won't have to feel like they have to only cater towards one of these groups, and we could see smash games that are better for competition.
It can't have any ill effects in any case.

and thats the reason i say we need to really push for getting it understood and accepted better by the non-competitive smash players, and start at big name places like IGN.

Nintendo doesn't pay attention to SWF, they know it exists, but they also know its the site for competitive smashers, which as of right now sakurai/nintendo just ignores.

And yet if you get the IGN editors themselves to at least acknowledge the scene(and the overall community) better, and have them start doing articles on competitive smash(or have someone from here do an article for em) nintendo is more likely to take notice, least more then they would from SWF by itself.

Anyway i'ma watch some of this guys posts, whether they're 100% accurate or not, it seems his goal is to at least get competitive smash accepted/viewed in a better light then what we are now by the non-competitives, least on IGN's boards.

Okay so Tier Lists aren't just based on Tournament results, at least he made point about Match ups being a factor too further on.

He did a decent job giving some info without overloading and jargon whatnot. Kudos
