Can I buy from the German Amazon site with an account from Amazon US? And since I don't know German I can't really see if he ships to Mexico. But thanks for the link!
I don't think so, but setting up an EU account should be a non-issue. Also, use Google Chrome for the page, and click the translate button.

Can we perhaps get an amalgamated list of all the places to order?
I don't mind working on it for the USA, if others from respective countries could garnish information from theirs. Including retailers, and websites which will safely ship to the given country.

I don't know if they ship to other countries, but here are the retailers I know of who sell amiibo in the UK.

GAME
Argos
Smyths
Amazon UK
Tesco
ASDA
Grainger Game
CEX
GameStop

I've only got about 16 of my 29 'fighting' amiibo open (meaning, the ones I plan on opening out of box, at least one of each character). I own a lot more boxed than unboxed. I save them for 'rainy days.' Does anyone else do this?
Haha, I can't really afford to do that. Maybe this summer when I go back to work, I'll pick up a few pricey ones and become a scalper in a year or two.

But I have the viewpoint of which they are more than just figurines with computer chips, and I try to treat them well and with care and love and all that. But then again I'm just a little wimpy fukboi sooo.
I'll totally own up to reselling games I find at garage sales, rummage sales, craigslist deals, etc
But man, I cant bring myself to do it with amiibo.

If I see Gold Mario/Silver Mario lying around at a local store, I will definitely pick them up for the sole purpose of keeping them boxed and reselling them in the future, maybe in two years or so. They would look nice in my room until the time comes too.

Normally I open Amiibos, but I'll make an exception for them. They are literally just Smash Mario/regular SM Mario functionality wise, and I intend to get both of them and open them for use. That, and I can't see many people in Ireland caring for them, let alone caring for the Mario Amiibos over the Smash ones (since Smash includes non-Mario characters that are popular here, like Sonic).

They are basically marked as Limited Edition, so they're asking to be used in this kind of way. If it doesn't do anything different to the other Mario Amiibos, which are distributed in abundance, I see no reason to open them.

That being said, I will likely never see them. Apparently Gold Mario is a regional exclusive, to the US.

Seriously though; can any admin please explain to me why it i that all conversations amiibo, a massive component of Smash 4, is relegated to a single thread-- the categorization-tool equivalent of discussing "Character A vs Character B matchup", or "Proposed Thesis about User__'s view on Sakurai"?
I know, right?
We could have threads to talk about pricing and where to find rare amiibos, about the best way to train them, and to speculate about future releases.
Then we have threads like this one, that was posted in the Smash Wii U subforum and was moved to the Rosalina subforum, even though it was an amiibo-centric thread.

The problem with getting Gold Mario outside the U.S. is we're limited to one per customer. That means you're pretty much guaranteed that anybody with extras to sell obtained them through nefarious means.

Seriously, this U.S. only crap is the worst thing I've ever heard. I already see enough hate towards the U.S. in this thread over these things, Nintendo doesn't need to give the world more reasons to hate us.

When was it said that we are limited to one, each? In store, I mean-

I suspect the moment Gold Mario is released, crowds will be crowding trying to get what could be "über popular"
I kinda agree with them, though keep the falcon punches to the game and not real life.

Just ordered Toon Link off of eBay for a total of 12.50. Amiibos seem to have a ridiculously fast market on there. If you catch them as soon as they're posted, a lot of the commons/semi commons go for around 10 bucks.

I'm trying to think of a name for it... I wanna make it funny, possibly pop-culture, something like that. But preferably something other people haven't done already.

So far I have:
Sausage (Cus he'd be a sausage link! Yeah? Is it good? Anyone? ...anyone...?)
Not Zelda
Tune Link
Little Kid

I'm open to ideas, if anyone wants to help. Also, first post. Feel free to bash me if I did something wrong.

In unrelated news: Wave 4 has apparently been spotted in an employee's work station at Toys R Us (at least product SKU's have been spotted, no Ness though)

So theres really still no explanation of how Amiibo work? The whole "they learned my playstyle and kicked my butt xDDDD" thing seems kinda fishy. Also Balrog's video already cleard some stuff up about how they "learn" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NODCiRmVIIw
The figures are nice and its cool having a little Smash buddy, but the whole thing about them "adapting" seems like bull.

It isn't.

The best example I observed was when I made my Level 50 Yoshi and Captain Falcon fight in an 8-Player Smash as a team, in a 99-stock match, and then pit them against each other in another match, they wouldn't attack each other for a good while in the match where they were against each other.

Yeah I just got my Kirby amiibo today and it had jank behavior sometimes
When items were on it was actually doing pretty damn decently, but then I went to Smashville as Marth vs my Kirby amiibo without items and its like it reverted back to levl 1 AI and barely attacked until it was on its last stock (this was around level 35, I already got it up to 50 now)
Also during teams it stock-tanked like crazy, though maybe thats just because CPUs always go for the human.

Quick question...

Is it normal for a Rosalina amiibo to have darker hair on the back of her head?

Nope, you've probably got a paint defect. Jury's still out on how that affects the collector's value. I have a Fox with a darker muzzle (and a second Fox with normal coloring for comparison). It's late, if I remember I'll take a picture of them tomorrow.

I don't know exactly what you're referring to, but I can't give you an appraisal. I don't know how paint defects are viewed in the eyes of collectors. Lots of people try to make money off it, but personally I like them looking natural - unless it's something crazy, like Samus with a "red visor" (green paint is completely missing from her face).

Apart from dark-nose Fox, I also have a Sonic with a splash of red paint on the white part of his shoes (both of those are out of package), and a Mega Man with a weird pattern where he isn't glossy (in box).

Slender :4wiifit: has joined the Amiibo Cup!!! Even though the Amiibo Cup II is underway right now, Slender is guaranteed to be in the third installment of the Amiibo Cup. She will have LOTS of time to train and get ready for the Amiibo Cup III and see what she is up against.
Speaking of the Amiibo Cup II, Shelk :4shulk: looks to defend his title while newcomers Rainbowbot :4megaman:, 'Murica :4mario:, DarthKirby :4metaknight:, and Hadouken :4lucario: look to shake up the competition. Let's see how this season will shape out. I'll be doing about 10-20 matches a day to keep everyone updated on the season.
Here's where they stand now: http://challonge.com/AmiiboCup2_Regular

Is it possible to put them back in the box after using them?
I did the flap trick where you can use them in-box, but I like the display box and would like to display certain ones inside it, or eventually just put all of them back inside their boxes when the dont have much purpose

I know, but I don't see the defect you're referring to.

For a while, I was trying to get doubles of amiibos I wanted to play with, but then I realized we're very likely getting card versions of them later.

It's probably the lighting, but I don't see what dark part you're referring to. Pretend I'm an idiot and draw an arrow pointing at it in MS Paint :)

I can't really see it, but my Rosalina has what I think you're referring to. It's normal though. Undersides are generally painted darker to simulate the shading on the in-game trophy models. For example, my Fox sort of has the area of his jacket under his neck painted darker, as that part is shaded in-game.

Also a paint defect isn't worth anything unless it's like, a character coloured entirely in the wrong palette or something. Stray paint marks are very common.

I'm pretty sure the entire allure of amiibo defects has been grossly overstated as a result of some jokester modding their own defects, resealing them in official-looking packing, and reselling for ridiculous sums of money.

No, I don't have proof those were scams. I'd rather let the ebay listings speak for themselves. Make sure to read the description - most of the big ticket defects we've heard about are mentioned, and at one time were pictured. This guy's been relisting them repeatedly because nobody's dumb enough to buy them for that price.

Decided to buy a Toon Link today cause I figured I should get at least one LoZ figurine and I think the regular Link is kinda meh quality (his face is weird). Also wanted to experiment with a different way of opening the box. Instead of carefully tearing the box and then re-gluing so I could keep the box as a display case and get the amiibo out, I just cut off the plastic off the front of it so I could pull the amiibo out like so.

I can slide the Amiibo in and of the supporting plastic easily so I can both display it and use it rather easily. I can also easily remove the silver sticker underneath him this way I can still use it if I'm feeling particularly lazy and don't want to slide him out.

I'll probably do this with the other "boxed" amiibo I have and anymore amiibo I buy in the future. Just need to get a new x-acto blade. Cutting it was kinda rough at some points.

I wish I came up with ideas like that when I first got my Yoshi Amiibo. I was just too excited and so I opened him as soon as I got home (heck, I haven't even tried the "new box smell" of Amiibos yet, since I just open them so quickly...forever regret not trying it with Rosalina :c). The boxes do look really nice, so keeping them for display purposes in a manner that makes the figure usable (not just in-game, but like, I can carry it around independently of the box) is really neat.

The only issue it would cause for me personally though, is space. I struggle to display them all as it is.

Oh yeah, I regret opening my first few amiibos the way I did as well. Samus and Bowser aren't tremendously rare but I don't want to shell out money for just the packaging. Doubt I'd ever get the chance to find a Pit box though. And space is definitely becoming an issue. I got six boxes lined up on my dresser right now and I think I can fit like 2 more before I have to create another row which I don't wanna do cause they'll block the view of the ones int he back. Maybe I'll get some cheap hooks and try hanging them on my wall if it comes to that.
