Am I the only one who's not interested in SSE?

I wish there was more information about it, then I might be a little more interested. For now it just looks like something fun to do outside of multiplayer. And I like a good story too. But like I said, I wish we could see more of it, but it'd probably spoil the story.

ehhh i could see why most people would be mad at this guy... but honestly... ill stick to classic for awhile and play some matches before going to SSE because well... its going to be long... and complicated... and your going to have to do it over and over and over again to unlock characters... and also the E for all videos disapointed me... it looks like the story only goes one way and u always start off with the same character.... it seems you dont get to pick

If Brawl was the first in the smash series, it would be considered a platformer/action/beat em' up/sidescroller type game (ala viewtiful joe). The single player is what all the previews and everything else would be focusing on, and the title on the case would most likley be Super Smash Brothers: The Subspace Emissary. It would get 10/10 in reviews because of the awesome singleplayer, and what reviewers have discovered to be one of the best mutliplayers in video game history, rivaling even Halo 3.

I have said it before, and I'll say it again. Nintendo plans to release two new games on February 10th. Super Smash Brothers: Brawl and, the first platformer in the series, Super Smash Brothers: The Subspace Emissary. It just so happens that these two games will be on the same disc. Just like all those crappy GBA things like Madagascar Checkers/Over The Hedge Racing were two games on the same cart. Except these are two GOOD games, rather than two piss ones.

Smashbros is a multi-player party game. but... are you seriosuly disappointed they are adding things to the game. so I suppose that If they just made it a story game and removed Multi-player you'd be unhappy? that's not a fair arguement since nobodies buying Brawl for the sake of enjoying SSE, but it's still nice they're working hard on a story, and you should say nice things about their work, instead of bagging on it in a topic.

If you don't like it then don't play it. They still kept classic mode in brawl. This is just a better version for adventure mode. I'm personally excited for it. I;'ve heard that you can actually form relationships between characters, rather than having them pre-set (later on thogh I'm guessing). It's probably just a rumour.

A game where all my favourite characters came together to fight against a great evil has always been my dream. When Smash Bros came out, my wish was semi-granted, because there was no fight against a common enemy, it was just fighting against one another.

With Brawl, this thing is finally happening. All the characters eventually teaming up to stop the SE. It's perfect, exactly what i've wished for for years. I'm just hoping that it's a great single player game.

You guys say they should add more multipplayer content, but I don't see how they can. If they change the core gameplay, they'll piss people off, they could add more multiplayer modes, but no-one really liked those in melee. All they can really do is add more items, and half the community doesn't even use them. They're is nothing wrong with the multiplayer aspect of this game. It perfect. So what's the point of changing it. They can do whatever they want with story mode cause there's no previous standards to live up to, no grand expectations. The multiplayer has that weight to it, they've tweaked it enough to adress certain problems and concerns, now all they need to do is leave it alone and everyone will be happy.
SSE will be a good, satisfying narritive at the least and will be an interesting way to unlock characters. There is nothing Sakurai could possibly do to the multiplayer to please you guys.

You've just been schooled. Dojo style.

Smash 64...Melee...Great muliplayer. On problem though. Single Player SUCKED, im talking more about Melee now as they DID make an Adventure mode, the problem was that it was short and grew very tiresome after playing it with a few characters. It never changed and lost its appeal quickly. Im the kinda guy who LOVES a good single player game (Co-Op is even better) because Im not used to having someone else to play with. The only other one in my house who likes videogames is 6, and friends aren't exactly across the street. And I would like to say that if SSE was 10 + hours long (heck maybe only a couple hours) and the multiplayer was unchanged from Melee I would probably buy the game just for the SSE. Of course it would get old faster without the multiplayer but I would still be excited for it.

I agree, the idea of some of the coolest video game characters out there joining together to fight an ORIGINAL enemy is pretty cool

They don't have much time to make SSE long, sine there's only 2+ months left. Unless if they're a LOT farther than they tell us.

The only pairings we know of in SSE is:
Mario/Kirby and Peach/Zelda
Fox and Diddy (I think)
Diddy and DK
Kid Icarus and Mario/Kirby
Link and Yoshi

I Don't remember any others, but I'm sure they're trying to imply as many pairings as possible in it.

Then there is also Metaknight, Samus, and Zero Suit Samus.

Plus Petey, Rayquaza, Bowser and the other enemies that were added (lol there's even giant goombas :])

I dunno, Hypnotist, but is there anything you actually like about this game?
I love the roster, I like that I can go online (even though it's flawed), I LOVE the stages and stage builder. I'm not a hater, and I never said I hated SSE.

If it's longer than 24 hours I will be very upset.

If it's longer than 4 hours I'll be upset.

but 48? Come on.
Hahahaha, everyone who is getting there hopes up for a long game... Expect 8 hours MAX.

That's basically what I was trying to say, but it didn't come across well. I want 4 max.

I'm very interested. Why wouldn;t I be?

You know, It's alright to actually sit down and play smash bros as a story-line rather then 24/7 play Vs matches all day. I like stories.

If I was really so intelligent, I wouldn't be starting flamewars left and right :D but I appreciate the compliment.

Xanderous, you are one of the most intelligent people on these forums and you know what logic is. I wouldn't mind 48 hours of SSE, but I'd want it as a separate game, not a half ***** short little thing.
Well agreed. like I said earlier, I can't help but feel that Adventure Mode was thrown in a the last second in a futile attempt to make a full single-player game.

And I'm excited for the Co-op. The last one of those that I played that didn't suck was a Ninja Turtles game. (And that was a long time ago.)

It's a nice twist, especially the 2 player co-op mode. Most people are forgetting that it's the little things that give games that 10/10 score.

I just really want to find out the rest of the story and how all the other characters tie in together...

But then it's back to tiny metal, bunny hood, 4 player FFA, Pokeball, matches. With 2.0 damage.

o.o......

LMAO. Omg I laughed so hard.

Anyways.
Yes I WOULD dislike the Subspace Emissary if it was exactly how we preceive it to be from the updates and the vids. Fortunately, it's not. Our knowledge now of the SE is probably nothing compared to the real thing.

With what we have seen at E for All how can we trust that what we see on the Dojo is what it's going to be like in the game?

I would say that I PREFER other updates, but the Subspace Updates aren't particularly horrible, as items and how to sucks.

Some people don't like having to play through long stories. You're also not required to like everything about Smash.
Some people don't, Some people do. Nobody said you were required to like everything about smash. Just look at tourney players. However, Sakurai wanted to make a full solid game, and this DOES include a "suppously" good storyline with it. Also, Maybe he didn't feel like making the same adventure mode 3 times, where you always fight masterhand, the wireframes, and some other random players. Considering adventure mode has CO-OP, I see no problem with teaming up to beat the story.

Some people dislike the music, some people dislike the items, the stages, the characters, but that isn't going to stop them from improving upon it, and the adventure mode is one of them.

Thank you.

Your quite welcome.

lol just kidding :]
Either way if you don't like SSE, you still have classic mode. But either way if you plan to unlock all the characters, then you'd have to do SSE [unless there are no unlockable characters during the SSE storyline].

EDIT: to the below vvvvv
You forget about LOZ:TP. That took a while for me to do (Definitly over 40 hours)

Oh, i was assuming that by "48 hours" Hypnotist meant finishing SSE in about 2 days, playing a couple of hours each day...

Because the idea of any single player game lasting more than 40 real hours would only apply to long RPGs and extremely open ended games such as Grand Theft Auto and TES: Oblivion, which you can basically play forever in single player.

I doubt SSE will take more than 3 hours to finish.

I actually agree with you. I really don't care about SSE, although I would never not watch the videos. But nn the long run, it'll be just like any other adventure mode. You'll beat it a few times, check out all the alternate endings and what not, and it will eventually get old. That's inevitable.

But then there's VS. mode. Well, VS. mode is forever.

10 hours isn't solid, 10 hours is a one or two day thing. And actually most people are expecting way less than 10 hours, like 5.
I got this from Nsider2 (http://nsider2.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=69415)

Quote:
Sakurai recently said he will make and improve SSBB as optimum as possible.

He also said there will be many playable characters, more than you can imagine, and he said the team is still adding and programming characters. There will be more 3rd party characters too.

The combo control, he said, is relatively easy to control
But to those who already played Melee, he recommends the GC controller

The best news is that SE will be in the best quality that is fun to play alone. It takes more than 10 hours to complete the story mode.Source: Famitsu

there ya go buddy.

I didn't look at any of the SSE videos at E For All, and when they are updates I am very disappointed, sometimes I don't watch them. It's most likely going to be very short and a one or two day thing. Does anyone else agree with me?
Yea, you are the only person that doesn't pretty much. Enjoy:)

I'm totally with you. I have no interest in SSE. I'm only going to play through it to unlock stages and characters, and once I've done that, I'll never touch it again. Hopefully it won't take too long.

I am one of those people who HATED Melee's excuse for an adventure mode (well it was ok just not much) So the Subspace Emissary is the thing that seals the deal for me, the thing that would make me camp out in front of the store.

So naturally I look at people who are not excited for it in the least as crazy ******* living in their mothers basements.

I dont think that about you though :)

To say it again, I love the SSE, playing one player has always been my favorite part of any game, due to the fact that there is often more to it then multiplayer. However, dont get me wrong, I like multiplayer too, which is why I love Co-Op, because it combines the fun of single player, with the fun of multiplayer

I really cant say more ecxept to restate how excited about SE I am, (in case you can't tell im VERY excited)

It was said that it is ten hours long, so it shouldn't be "a one or two day thing." Also, I'm sure it will unlock many things.

Chances are people will speed run it down to like, 45 minutes :p

Ten hours? That sounds like a good single player length. Especially for Smash where the side scrolling would get epically redundant.
