Just a thought, If they decide to use any of the main characters from Path of Radiance, it could be Greil/Gawain and the Black Knight.

Greil is Ike's Father and was the leader of the Greil mercenaries before Ike he would sport a big axe...

and The Black Knight, who was a much greater villain than Ashnard, and BK has the sister sword of the Ragnell (Ike's Powerful Sword), the Alondite...
