Am I the only one who doesn't want a new Pokemon rep?

I see. Polygon didn't even give the full list. I used Ctrl+F, typed "jigglypuff" and didn't get anything. Pikachu was 4th, Charizard was 6th, and Mewtwo was 11th. Jigglypuff was 49th.
If you looked at the tweet, you will see that Serebii tweeted the full list.

I did, but I'm talking about Polygon, which is the list I looked at, at the time before you told me Jigglypuff was on the list. Then I checked the full list.

I think she is. She wasn't even on the list of Japan's 100 most popular Pokémon. I don't think being a veteran is what should warrant a character's placement. Relevance makes more sense.
I agree, but only within the realm of the veterans from melee onward. Captain Falcon and Ness haven't even had a game between them in well over a decade, but I don't hear any calls for their removal, because at this point, they're synonymous with smash. I think the same of Jigglypuff. Why remove it when it's a big staple of the series as a whole?

Because 'reps'.

I feel like Pokemon is currently fine the way it is then again I honestly don't have any desire for any new ones though I wouldn't be against any new Pokemon they may add, Jigglypuff and Lucario are the only ones I use commonly anyway.

I would love to see Meowth in Smash, but I could not disagree more with the notion that Pokémon in Smash are “junk food” characters.

I don't consider Melee characters "veterans". The word "veteran" has become conflated with "recurring". As for Captain Falcon and Ness, it's probably a hard truth to swallow, but they're not relevant, either. I have a soft spot for Ness, only because my brother has mained him since SSB64. Still, my mind tells me that the difficulty with RPG protagonists is that they're often replaced by someone else. There are way too many Mario, Fire Emblem, Pokémon, and Zelda characters, respectively.

In my opinion, we have enough Pokemon. I hate how there's this obligation to keep adding a new Pokemon for each Smash title. It's unearned representation. So what if there's a frickin' bajillion Pokemon? Character quantity seems like a cheap reason to keep getting reps. If the series was that great - as great as Super Mario or Legend of Zelda - I'd say go ahead, but Pokemon isn't that great - not to me anyways. So I'd rather see other series like Star Fox, Mother or DKC get some more reps. And maybe get some reps for some overlooked games like Sin and Punishment, Custom Robo or Mischief Makers.

EDIT: I'll make an exception for Meowth. He has an actual long-standing iconic status (as opposed to being the flavor of the month), has a distinct and memorable role in the series, and has a cool, memorable personality (as opposed to being merely cool looking). But other than that, I'm good.

I don't think that we'll be getting a new Pokemon this time around.

I'm not a Pokemon fan whatsoever. The only ones I was interested in getting as a newcomer were Mimikyu and Nihilego/Lusamine, but the former is disconfirmed and the latter ain't ever happening. I'd rather they didn't waste a unique newcomer on some lame 'mon like Incineroar.
