Besides my main character of Ike and my worst character of Jigglypuff (a.kn.a. Purin), i'm almost equally good with ALL 33 other characters, Ganondorf included. Discounting the metagame, which I refuse to get into, I believe the character lineup has better balance than Melee's. I know many of you will think I'm wimpy for not panning Brawl, but it IS my favorite game in the series. Is there something wrong with me if I think so highly of Brawl?

Also, am I the only one who calls the first Smash Bros game "Super Smash Bros 1" instead of "Super Smash Bros 64"? Unlike most games with 64 in their title, the N64 Smash Bros game was the first game in its series.

Meh... I like Brawl more than Melee because I like the pace.

You should be careful to make sure this doesn't turn into a much-reviled "Brawl vs. Melee" fiasco.

Then the main focus of this topic will be what the first Smash Bros game should really be called, and about Smash 4 and other upcoming Nintendo games.

I've NEVER heard SSB to be called Super Smash Bros 1; it's always SSB, Super Smash Bros, or Smash 64.

You might be the only one calling it SSB1 .

Well you've got to take in account the fact that Brawl is easy to pick up.
I can play everybody with more ease on brawl because of its pace (slow :urg:). But that doesn't mean I'm any better. I'm even positive that my sucky Melee Luigi (I have a lot trouble playing with that fella) is better than my Brawl Luigi (I'm having a lot less trouble with that one).

Conclusion?
You might be better in Brawl generally. / The game's pace could explain it.

EDIT: I forgot to answer to your question. You're not abnormal, lol.

...but it's not a sequel...

If you ask me, calling it SSB64 gives it the feel of being a sequel to an SNES game. SSB1 is a better name because it assures the gamer it's the first one.

Also, nobody said anything about Smash 4 or those other games.

I don't expect anyone to say anything good about that potential 8-16-012 release date for Smash 4. I'm starting to think that because I've said nothing anyone here has liked to my recollection, that the Smash World Forums aren't right for me. And Falconv1.0, are you saying I'm sucking up to the second poster's message?

Perhaps you should lurk moar?
Really, most of these topics have been already been reviewed beyond believe and if you really want to talk about SSB4 then go to that thread, general brawl discussion I believe it's under.

Well, not really. Back in the 64 era, it was more than common to put "64" at the end of every title.

Super Mario 64, Star Fox 64, etc.

It's universally accepted because that's it's official name. Super Smash Bros. Why on earth would it matter if people that have never played the game not realize the order in which they go?

Take one look at the graphics and you'll know. Saying "SSB1 is a better name" is entirely an opinion. You can call it that, but few people would ever agree to it.

They don't sound like they want to talk release dates. They were in a heated argument about two of the characters, last time I checked.

What you described in the OP does not make you abnormal.
Playing a Nintendo Party Beat 'em Up competitively with a serious attitude makes you abnormal. Get at me son! xD

That's because trying to predict release dates for a game that we're not even 100% sure is happening yet is both unrealistic and impossible.

In regards to what you call the first Smash Bros., feel free to call it whatever you want, but I've never felt that it implies that there's any sort of previous game in the series, it just implies that it's Super Smash Bros. for the 64. Since most people know what Smash Bros. is, most people understand that it is the first game in the series.

It isn't technically inaccurate to call it SSB64 and SSB1 sounds awkward since you don't call Melee SSB2 or Brawl SSB3. A lot of the time I'll just refer to them as "Melee", "Brawl", and "64".

I am disappointed in the obviousness of this troll attempt.
Alex, I have much higher expectations of you, don't disappoint me like this.

I don't get the ssb1 thing, why wouldn't you just call it ssb? That's the true acronym for it. I say ssb64 just because it's super smash bros for the 64. I often refer to it as 64 or ssb though.

You probably aren't equal with all the other characters, play the same person who is using the same character over and over switching characters every 5 rounds or so and see if any of your characters are weaker/stronger than you expect.

I don't understand, you refuse to get into the metagame?!?! That doesn't make sense, how do you play? Your playstyle will reflect your metagame, whether or not it complies with tournament metagame.
