i agree that we need to have some knd of common communication, but we also have to host reliable smashfests that are bigger than just at someones house, or just the regulars in a small room with a tv

See the problem with this is, without common communication, nobody knows about smashfests, even if regular, and attendance is mandatory when renting a space.

So really, we need contacts so we can bug the **** out of people.

doesnt eb games or some local store like video game trader have controllers? and is japan is still selling that white controller?

Trader controllers are a big no-no in calgary, they are NEVER good.

As for the white controller, still very available, not to mention the good ol' manufacturer.

No, a big skype conversation is a pointless idea for many reasons. People should just read the boards, or ask if they are the eager type. The good alternative would be a fb group, but it would be to be sustained, updated, and made well known to be effective. Smashers are ****ing lazy though.

So you say we shouldn't have a livefeed access that can reach people without needing to check smashboards as well as in some cases redirected to where they are, as well as a general quicker discussion board that is public, can be off-topic, and allows us to not be as uptight and simply say "hey is anything going on?" and not have to wait 8 hours for someone to return home from the event to say, "oh yeah, we had a tournament, it was on smashboards, did you not look 5 pages back? DUH"

But instead you suggest putting up a board, that would function exactly the same as smashboards, be less efficient, and proven to not work from the three times we've tried before with existing strong communities.

Hmm, somehow I feel like my suggestion might just be a BIT better.

I mean, unless no one wants to give up their contact info, but then it's their own fault for missing things.

Okay guys, Skype chat works a hell of a lot better than a forum does. You're always going to have lazy smashers and skype is the best way to get their attention. I'm surprised fourm posting isn't completely obsolete from the internet as it's such **** to communicate on it.

Like Ben said, make a Skype account and add him (tastytaste) or me (mripod128) and we'll start up a chat on it. Just be productive to make an account and add us once, and you can be lazy all ya'll want after. I'm just sick of using Smashboards.

I think any idea with like regular updates on it would work well, so we don't need to scroll through pages of smashboards to find stuff happening


And Hansel, I think the best bet for GC controllers is still Kijiji for local, you might just have to find a way to get there lol
And I've tried the Gamestop 3rd party white controllers. They're OK, they obviously feel different from a regular controller but if you haven't gotten used to a regular GC controller anyways then the Gamestop ones are OK (as in not limiting in any way)

I've got two MadCatz controllers, they are super hard for SSBM cause it takes a lot more force to press a button but they're awesome for FPS's and stuff cause you don't do anything you don't want to
And they have a macro button

Ok so people really need to stop inferring stuff. Of course we all jump on the Ben train cause he makes good decisions about organization and stuff. Posts like "Watch them all jump on it cause you agreed. T.T", as well as inferring that people are useless is unnecessary.

IMO if we have like a FB page or some type of thing like that where the only purpose is to keep in check with upcoming events, ON TOPIC, it would be a really good step, as well as being accessible to prospect smashers.

Smashboards is sort of the place to build hype, give shoutouts, talk about random stuff, advice on controllers, etc.
