lololololololololol. I went all in on a straight 10 j q k a in an act of desperation and got mosta breads dough. then we went to the reservoir and froze our ***** off for a new year beer.

edit: The true story: Levi got owned in poker left right and center, then people gave him pity chips, but since they did that the game took 7 years to finish, o everyone just got too tired, and once again they gave levi their chips (levi got wrecked by me in a hadn that brought him down to less than 200 chips, and I had almost 3000) then Levi was like "let's split the pot by percentage." which was a load of bull, because I was winning and everyone just gave levi their ****.

Then levi couldn't put two and two together and realize a long freezing walk to a reservoir was a bad idea, when he wanted to throw rocks at it, not realizing that theres no rocks, and it's covered in snow. Then he got a call from his grirlfriend and talked forever while we all froze and he wouldn't even let us at least start walking back, because he was too **** to finish a single beer.

The effects were probably the best of all time actually. That 3D stuff blew my mind several times. Other than that it was pretty average.

It was a hyped movie though which kind of makes it hard to believe its the best. Example: Watchmen and Inglorious Basterds were both also hyped, but they both blew chunks even though people "think" they are good

The actors in Avatar were cast perfectly. If the movie played up until he becomes a blue furry I would have REALLLLY wanted to see how it ended, but then it proceeded to meet every cliché I hoped they wouldn't succumb to. I'm sad to see those actors get such one sided roles that don't change AT ALLLL by the end of the movie (the script has no time for quality character development). The one character that DOES undergo signficant change definitely could have done a better job making me believe it. He came off very very flat in his human scenes and was basically the same person he was in terminator. His CGI character did a much better job making me believe he cared, and that's not a testament to his acting at all.

The problem with avatar was the script. the script for avatar was the same **** we've all already seen a million times about a warrior who changes allegiances once he finds out the people he's fighting were not the real bad guys.

Gran torino was the exact same story and gran torino did a better job. I didn't even LIKE gran torino.

tl;dr: avatar was a fun movie especially in 3D while I was drunk, but even I could call every single detail about the movie before it happened. It was empty calories; not Cameron's best work.

Go watch up in the air and tell me avatar is a good movie.

Watchmen was good; the acting was believable and I couldn't predict what was going to happen every scene. These are the conditions for a good movie.

Watchmen soundtrack was awful though. Me and a couple other people in the theatre were audibly distraught when 99 red balloons played.

I get what you're saying, but I had not intended to say it was the best solely because of its script. I still really liked the story, I saw that it was cliché but the way it presented itself distracted the viewer and made me focus more on the wonderful world of pandora.

Yes the cgi was amazing, but that's not the sole reason this movie was great. The way the world was made and how the na'vi lived is what really pulled me in. It was a world and a lifestyle similar to ours but more beautiful. It contrasted our lives against that of a simpler people who were happy without materialistic objects.

The acting was believable, he was a disgruntled paralysed soldier and he showed that well. Most of the movie was voiceovers anyway, which is a different kind of acting, but still was believable.

Gran torino was a different story, he had no allegiances. Both sides were Hmong. He just chose to get himself involved.

I'd say, so far, it is the best movie of the year by far, but then again I haven't seen Nine, or that other movie that's supposed to be pretty quality (forget the name :\).
