hey guys, what does it take to be amazing?
also @kira, its great that you're improving and listening to what we say and all that. but i feel that you can also take it up a notch by watching combo videos and matches. like watching armada, or other pro peach players. you can get ideas and inspiration from them. if you see something that you like, and think its really cool, try it out the next time you play.
i guess the same advice can go for matt+
it helped me improve cuz at the end of It takes guts to be amazing, that fox lived FOREVER. also i kinda know how to DI now so my link's been living up to like 200% ("JUST DIE ALREADY!" - james, lol)
alternatively, watch caleb, jason and Ean, they are really flashy players and pull off some really cool ****.
regardless there are somethings that you just have to learn on your own such as lcanceling. which im still having problems with... w/e, ill get it down eventually
this is also a habit i notice in a few people, including myself and i need to work on. adrian, kira, and matt+. lets say u and other player are at 130% and the other guy gets the 1st killing blow on you, and you come back and ALL you focus on is getting that kill on him. its bad because the other person is going to be playing ALOT more defensively and you're less likely to be able to get ur normal killing move on him. instead, take ur time, try and get him in a combo and end it with a killing blow rather than just spam it for the next 2 mins and constantly get punished for it. ur already a stock behind and thats the last thing you need. something i notice and i need to work on it myself. anyways, moral of the story, patience is key.
for those who've been wondering and like wanna learn edge teching. it helps to see things in frames, and know your opponents characters, theres only so many things he can do to edgeguard you, most poeple go for spikes and those are really easy to predict. different moves have different frame window oppurtunity to tech. IE its easier to tech falcon's Dair than it is to tech roy's NeutralB lurking. in addition theres 2 different options that you can do while teching. theres neutral where u just tech off the wall and drop, or if you DI towards the stage while doing so you tech and do a wall hop. i find it easiest to tech with falco and fox, but thats just me, i see jason and caleb tech some cool stuff with CF as well. basically anything that hits the edge in order to prevent you from grabbing it is techable. however, you have to beware of certain moves IE fox/falco's Dsmash which hits just slightly further than the stage and is untechable, so even if you try and sweet spot it, it will still hit you. however thats the only move i know of thatdoes it. on that note, sweet spotting is something you should always try and go for if you cannot make it back directly on the stage IMO.
while on the subject of recovering, i need to learn how to avoid getting gimped while falco, DI and teching can only get me so far. what more is there i can do to improve my recovery game with falco? and of course ill also take advise on link recovery too... although i think i got his down, with link i can do so much, bomb trick, chain, regular, i can throw gadgets to keep my opponent clear...
