Well I know I'm not gonna be going back to Melee often; even in casual play the controls are unforgiving and it's very easy to accidentally SD if your timing isn't perfect, and everyone's recovery is pretty terrible. As for Brawl, it's also pretty unfriendly to competitive because you have to have pixel-perfect spacing in order to land a safe hit. No offensive action is safe in Brawl thanks to the power of frame-perfect SDI! Pit's FSmash? SDI up > punish with an aerial. Pit's NAir? SDI left/right > punish with an aerial. Pit's DSmash? SDI behind > punish with a tilt or smash attack. Toon Link's FSmash? SDI up > punish with an aerial. Pit's jab combo (non-rapid)? SDI away > punish with a tilt.

I totally cannot wait for Smash 4 to show up and hopefully throw all that **** out the window.

Edit: Sorry, I'm just sort of mad right now. Brawl is still fun, just CPUs are ridiculous once they pick up on the pattern "mash a single direction repeatedly when hit". Even level 3 CPUs start pulling frame-perfect SDI out of nowhere occasionally! And frame-perfect SDI in Brawl sends you super far and looks really, really out-of-place and ugly. Things start looking like Dragon Ball Z or Bleach with people teleporting/flash-stepping everywhere.
