Yes some of our Melee skills will carry over to Brawl. Shffling, edge hogging, dash dancing etc. As pros (the larger majority of them) our open minds will also carry over enabling us to experiment with things and develop new techniques.

no l-cancel = no shffl. it doesn't mean we don't develop ways around it. although I kinda hope they change the auto-sweet spot thing. =/ I remember in SSb64 I would always do pivot edgehogs, maybe I can carry that over to brawl

I honestly wouldn't mind if advanced techs weren't in the game. I think the thing that seperates smash from other fighting games is that a new player can pick up the controller and be potentially as good as someone with much more play time under their belt. The moves and techniques are simple, and it's more about when to use them and how then it is about pressing buttons with precise timing or in perfect sequence. Mental skill and tactics are more impressive than button combos.

If i play against a mortal kombat pro, and i'm playing for the first time, i'll get school because he knows all his "down back forward B" and special moves.

Don't get me wrong, i use some advanced techs, but i don't think they are the point of smash. Regardless, new ones will arise and people will find ways to be faster than others.

What kind of idiot dev would make a game like that? If some guy that just picked up the controller can beat someone who has been playing the game for a much longer time something is wrong with that game.

Easy to learn, difficult to master. It's no fun picking up a game and instantaneously being the best you can be, those games never last long and belong on crappy websites in flash formats.

I think you misconstrued what he had said.

He isn't saying he wants a game where a newbie can INSTANTLY defeat a master within minutes, he wants a game where more new people are allowed the POTENTIAL to be as good as the masters.
