well, this seemed to strike a bunch of mixed criticism. Im not sure how far this will get, but i really wanted to see how you all felt about it(if you SAW the performance that is).
i personally thought it was crossing the line.... this was put on national TV, on a network that little children watch no less, and hes doing all this racy nonsense. i couldnt believe it.. i was appalled. i couldnt find a proper video, but this was the next best thing! :)
please discuss lol

He kissed a dude. Get over it. Let's just call it out for what it is: homophobia.

If you want to be appalled at anything, it should be Janet Jackson and her obvious lip syncing. That was cringe-worthy.

It isn't just the kissing. No one cared about that. I think what did it was the who 'bondage' stuff.
Some people thought it wasn't appropriate for the children.

There are much more things that were wrong with that act other than kissing another male.

Second that notion
I don't hate gays, I love them, it's not right in our religion, but also in our religion we say "hate the sin, love the sinner (person)"

I'm cool with gays, had a gay friend last year, their flamboyance is hilarious lolz.

This performance was WRONG gay or straight, too much sex. i don't even think GaGa does this, and she's very sexual orientated.

I like this song, but I never liked adam's voice. IN this performance he sounded like a "cat with his huevos, in a vise" as George Lopez's mom says.

HATED THIS PERFORMANCE!!!!!!!!

EDIT: by the way oral sex is NOT cool onstage on national television leave that to ur personal deals.

i am NOT homophbic in the slightest!
i figured at least ONE person would accuse me of this :ohwell:
apparently you didnt really watch the whole video or read the whole link to know EVERYTHING that was wrong with it

THIS is what i was getting at! the backup dancers were simulating sex (they didnt show it on TV though thank god.), he was shoving faces up to his crotch, ect. there was more to the problem besides kissing another male....>_>
and to think 6&7 year olds could watch that

The only gripe I have with Lambert is that he is doing all this to get attention. I couldn't care less if he was gay, or if he groped a man on stage. The fact is, Lambert's sexuality was exploited in a marketing ploy, which was very disgusting to me.

Im defiantly far from being homophobic...but seriously? On national television? There are just some lines that shouldnt be crossed.
He was a bit out of line, especially seeing that people of ALL ages are watching.
I dont think children or grandparents really want to see that :/

To quote that article:

"The costumes for dancers during the Adam Lambert AMA performance definitely had a bondage feel to them, which could be why some are comparing it to porn (not being into bondage porn myself, I wouldn't know if that was an accurate comparison). There's one part of the performance where he has a male dancer on a leash, and for a second or two, it looks like he may be simulating oral sex. And then he makes out with a male dancer."

This may be the only time I've ever been interested in Adam Lambert.

I'm surprised with the way he acted. I don't think it's right to show that on National Television. There are lots of kids watching he should have been aware of this from the start.
By the way I'm proud to say that I'm a Christian too.

@Crashyface, what!? Lady Gaga is way more talented than Winehouse and at the very least isn't a alcoholic/drug abuser. She does look ****ing ugly in that picture though.

If you thought this was innapropriate for children then don't let your children watch it. It's not like the whole perfomance flashed before your eyes. If you had time to watch to whole thing you had time to remove your children from the room.

So are stereotypes.

Ok, since you watched this, I am first gonna have to ask for the rating on the show. Something tells me that it wasn't unrated, and if it wasn't, it would mean such actions would be...more permissible, to say the least.

Lady Gaga is the world's best tool for abstinence and to stay off of drugs

Just wait for the day when her and Amy Winehouse team up.
Then the apocalypse would happen.

Yay massive amounts of stereotyping! :bigthumbu

Sarcasm!

Also, please don't drop your "My religion says being gay is wrong" jazz. Notwithstanding the fact that it doesn't really have any factual basis, it also devolves any conservation into intense amounts of flaming. No, I won't do that here, but just saying it is something you should avoid like the plague.

Look here dude, I"m not the westboro baptist "church" saying "God hates ***s" cuz he doesnt and I'm not trying to bring religion in this but I'm only standing for what I believe in. If you do not wish me to "drop my jazz" then I won't okay?

In my personal morals, whether it's gay or straight I don't give a crap. I just wish the performance would be less sexual, he can throw as much innuendo as he wants in the song but come on there's some kids watching these shows kids who love good music, would you want ur kids exposed to that, very early?

I'm not blowing this performane outta proportion I remember when Miley went down a "stripper" pole once, woop dee doo, everyone blew that out of proportion when it was completely innocent, especially when compared to adam's performance. this is a big deal.
And to the stereotyping, I'm not saying all gays are flamboyant some are very feminine some are very masculine, I'm only talking about the gays I've encountered.

Please forgive me if I almost started a big flame war, I was just stating my beliefs so lets drop it now.

Impossible! TV broadcasts go directly into your brain. What has been seen cannot be unseen!

Now join me and don this aluminum foil hat.

But seriously, I grew up when Madonna was big, and I caught a lot of her scandalous performances and videos on TV when I was a kid. It didn't traumatize me; it actually just went right over my head.

Lambert is going to have to work harder if he wants to outdo the likes of her and Christina Aguilera and every other female artist who has ever used sexuality as a marketing ploy--which would be a whole heck of a lot. It's such an industry standard for female artists to be provocative and sexual that most people don't even notice it. At least, until a guy does the same thing.

If queers freaked out every time they got hit in the face with rampant heterosexuality...well, that'd be a lot of freaking. A lot. Of freaking. I think we can all just call it even and move on.
