A Spoiler Reminder!

As we slowly inch closer to the Japanese and American Release Dates, we must contain our excitement in a manner that is appropriate and polite. There will be many who leave the forum, in hopes of being surprised at the character/stage selection, however, there WILL be a number (including me) who stay and try to sift out what we want to know, and what we don't.

So I ask of everyone and anyone who posts new information, please wrap this barrage of information in the

Spoiler

Tags. The button contains an upper-case A and a lower-case B, and fades from White to Black. It is the last button on the line just above your text box.

For example, for the below spoiler box, I could say "Hey, this is a CHARACTER SPOILER, or an SSE SPOILER:

Thanks for the PSA, but no matter what, you're going to be spoiled by some troll who thinks it's funny to post a thread titled "My ideas for Brawl" which will in fact be a huge list of spoilers.

But here's hoping that those occurrences are minimal.

i just hope that people have the judgement to be able to make a distinction between SPOILERS and MAJOR SPOILERS, and label them as such. minor spoilers i don't mind, but i'll probably stay away from major spoilers.

I see 1 problem with this. No one who wants to avoid character spoilers will be able to view the character discussion forum, as there will be a sub-forum with that character's name on it sitting right there.

yeah, i imagine that it would be a good idea for people who don't want character spoilers to stay far from the character forum. all the character groups and alliances will be having a hayday with any confirmations anyway. it'd be hard to miss.

While it would be wonderfully considerate and the decent thing to do to explicitly let people know in the thread titles when there would be spoilers, and that sort of thing-- it's unrealistic considering the nature of internet forums.

If there are things you don't want to find out, be it characters, stages, features or plot-- the burden of restraint is on you.

The decent thing to do is to make people aware when you're posting something, but you really can't depend on the public to do that or for the moderators to catch an "open" spoiler before you accidentally do.

If you think you can depend on the public to show restraint, then you're naive. You can try to read cautiously, but if you REALLY don't want to find things out-- STAY OFF THE BOARDS!
