A New "Final Destination"?

Mods lock this if you want, but I think Sakurai has given us a new "Final Destination." In a way atleast. In the Subspace Emissary update, we see many, many new screenshots. One of them shows Mario fighting off a bunch of badies. But what some people didn't see was where he was fighting them.

Now we can't see much of this at all, but he's fighting there on what seems to be a flat platform. Now before you say "This is just an adventure mode level." Think. In Melee's adventure mode You didn't only fight on sidescrolling levels, but also fought certain characters on the stages we can play on VS Mode. So what about this one?

I think that is atleast one of the new "Final Destination" Levels, with the Stadium and such in the background, it could easily represent the "Final Level" of the story. What do you think though?

Note this is all speculation and I could be completely wrong. I'm not looking for flaming posts calling this stupid, but what you think this might be. What I said, another flat stage, or an Adventure Mode Level only, or something else.

Its possible. At first, from both the “this world” and the subspace update I thought it might the new pokemon stage because of the crowd. However, it doesn't seem to have any identifiable features such as the red and white pokeball that was on the melee stage. Of course that doesn't mean that it isn't. It could be either final destination or pokemon stage.

I seriously doubt it would be the Pokemon stage, as for the same reason why I think this one could be it. There is a huge crowd in Pokemon Stadium, yes, but they designed the level of the Pokemon Stadium games. That was one of the stages in Pokemon Stadium 2 (Could be wrong, but I heard it was in one of them.) But this one has the gloomy look, story, and so on. Unlike Pokemon Stadium, who has always had a giant crowd no matter the occasion.

This has been predicted since the "This World..." update.
Try to keep all stage discussion, in the "Official Stage Discussion" thread?

Your right, lol, I forgot about that one, but until the mods close this, I suppose theres no point in stopping this one. But I will talk about it there otherwise.

Yes, I believe this is the new Final Destination, I made a post about this in the stage topic too. I feel that this stage will be much like Battlefeild, in the sense that the stage itself won't change, but the background will. I think it'll go from happy skys, to gloomy and dark.

This is something I couldn't catch.
But yeah, it does look like a final destination-esque stage.
A simple flat platform.
Hopefully it'll be a Stage.

I think that this would be the perfect stage to have Finalized, I mean. It just has that "Final" feel to it, something that Final Destination didn't have in my opinion. Hopefully Sakurai is doing what we're speculating, as this would be great level.

Also, I've always wanted a stadium type level in the Smash series that wasn't Poke'mon, it helps give more of an actual feeling that you're in a fighting tourny, and it makes sense when you hear cheering and stuff.

I don't think it's a stage at all, it looks like it's got wall on it. I think it a stage ou can only play on one player, but I hope it is a stage.

I assumed that too it was Final Destination. But actually looking at it, I'm thinking that that's just a regular stage, maybe unlockable, eh? But there'll be a different Final Destination, I bet.

Hopefully we'll get more then 1 "flat" level which is worth playing in, so we can at least get some variety instead of the same level over and over again

PS: I actually think it's the 1st stage from Adventure Mode, since in the movie they were already on the stadium and then the "stuffs" appeared

We already have plenty of flat levels. Too many, in fact.

I want one completely flat level, perfect for practicing. I want one crazy huge level, like the Temple was, as I LOVED the Temple. I'm not all for Moving Stages, but if they work, they work..

I'd like plenty of variety for ALL levels. Why have one big level when you cane have 2 or 3? Same goes for all types of levels.

True True, I just don't get why people didn't like the Temple. Now yes, for Tourneys I can see why its banned, cause its hard to do four stocks on that huge stage, if you go under it anyways. But for fun and such!? Come on! I love the stage.

Stages, Stages, Stages.

It all depends on the player and his/her opinions right?
Nonetheless, in my opinion this stage would make cut for me, either that or any fair flat stage with no obstacles.

If it were to be a stage, all is good for me. If it weren't, I'm sure theres one or more flat surfaced stage for me to play in.

All in all, I'm not a hardcore gamer 24/7. I do enjoy casual matches at any stage.

Visiting from above.
It may not be a stage at all. I know it looks like gameplay, but the fact that there are two Modeas in the foreground and the fact that it's the same location lead me to believe that that particular screenshot comes from later on in the cutscene that was shown, or possibly a different one.

Thats a really good thought on this. But I don't think Sakurai would use real moves in the cut scenes, to me it really looks like a stage, with Mario fighting multiple ones. Once that one gets knocked out, another one or two jumps in from where those two are.

Now, this has made me think deeper.

I've come to a conclusion where you are correct.

Nope, I'm 90% sure that's a stage. If you haven't noticed, that screen is grouped with other screens of gameplay, not to mention that that screen is much lower poly than the screens below it, which are cut scene screens. Also, not to mention how the floor is MUCH higher than in the screens and video below it, this is most likely due to Sakurai trying to make it easier to KO opponents, since it'd be very hard when the floor in the cut scene was so low to the ground. Also, as you can see in this screen, there are edges.

It has edges? WAIT, do yo mean it has edges like to grab on, or walls? Cause it just looks like a floating platform. Thats all.

Yea...Final Destination needs to be put in a evironment like that; With the crowd watching you battle, and the environmental changes...It'll be like a "Final Showdown" stage for tournies. :)

It's hard to see, but if you look closely at the end of the screen you can see it's forming edges. That isn't 100% though, but I see edges being formed.

I see no wall-edges there at all. I just see a flat platform hovering in the air, on on a machine or something in the air, with a poll coming from the ground holding it up.

Wall edges? When did I see wall edges? I ment the edges of a platform hovering in the air, like you said. Now, why on Earth would I use wall edges to support my statement that this is a level, when all levels hover in the air and have edges? :p

I argree with you, but I don't think this is Final Destination. I'm siding with McFox. It just may be one of those stages where you just play for single-player and nothing more. Well, we'll just have to wait until December 3rd, which is in 94 days.

I still go with McFox. Other than that. i'd need to see more screenshots or something better well said than his statement.

I can try. Lets see.

This stage resembles Final Destination in what we can see in this screenshot. It looks like the "proofing grounds" for Super Smash Bros. Brawl, as Final Destination was in Melee. It could begin and end here, no hold bars. No where to run, no where to hide. Fight to the death. They are about to begin the fight, but the halberd appears and drops the "Modeas." Mario goes to challenge one of them, but he feels shaking and a platform rises from under him. Bring him and the Modea up to fight. Then another one raises infront of them, holding the other badies to jump in when the others are defeated. And for Verses mode, they don't even have to show the other platform the guys are standing on. It wouldn't be hard to take out.

Does that counter McFoxs?

Well, if it were a selectable stage, and a stage in advenuter mode. then it'll be a well held discussion.

I think that, it's a stage to unlock. But also a stage in adventure. But definitely, I'm still siding with McFox, that it's AS OF NOW just a stage in the adventure mode.

Who knows. I think the question amongs this topic has stirred up a bit since then. but hey! We'll just have to wait. As 'til Dec. 3rd, I pray that my gamestop gets my reservation 1 to 2 days before the release date. :p my gamestop has always been early a few days. =]

It'll probably be a secret stage, like you gotta complete the Adventure mode with certain characters or something. I dont see it coming strait of the bat.

That could be true, but this level to me actually looks like it is at the very beggining. The baddies have come down from Meta's ship (as we saw in the video) and now Mario is fighting them. To me, it seems this would be the very first level.

But the story could easily end up making them end up here. Bowser vs Mario, the very end battle.

sorry for the double post, but i just remembered, sakurai used zelda's teleportation in a cutscene, and peaches umbrella.
