Ok, so should you 4 stock the casuel player or beat them. I can 2-3 stock my friend with Link when he's Falcon, and he's a casuel player. Is that to bad

I mean lol if you win all the time, that's good enough. Winning is the most important thing thats the whole point, right?

im more of a casual player,no one i play knows a wavedash, but i know the recovery techs, do i REALLY need to know how to wavedash? i dont think its that nessecery......now
You need to learn how to play smart more than anything. The more you learn about the game, you see that wavedashing is very useful and theres no reason not to do it. If you think its unecessary, don't do it. But if you keep playing the game and keep desiring to get better, you'll naturally see that its useful.

Well, I was told that my method for shorthopping (pressing the button, not flicking it) was easy with Falco, because you can hold it down for 4 frames.

But I short hop that way consistently with Fox and Marth, too. Do they have easy short-hops also?

No, they don't. Fox has the hardest in the game I believe.
I think most people press the button, rather than flick. Flicking is just another option for people who aren't as fast.

Heres my situation:
Ive got no one to play with. Really. Only my one friend, he plays advanced tactics too so hes good. But whenever we play its only for like an hour and he wants to go do something else. I, on the otherhand, play this game every chance i can get. (3 in the morning anyone?) And everyone in my town is just a player who does it for fun, they say going to tourneys and stuff is stupid. Whats a 13 year old kid to do? Not like i can drive. Ive been thinking about going to a tournament or a smashfest just to play with HUMANS for once. Any ideas?

Ooh, you've got it way harder than even me, and I only have two friends who play Smash at my level.

I don't know what you can do besides waiting for Brawl so you can get your Wifi play on.

I really suck at wavedashing and L-Canceling. Mostly L-Canceling. I just cannot ever get the timing right. (And I have tryed and practiced, A LOT)

How often have you practice, and how long have you been practicing?

If you can make it to smashfests and tournaments, you should be attending those as often as possible. If you literally can not play anyone, ever, then I must apologize to you, but there is no way for you to get really good at this game. The most you can do is practice your tech skill, and play people whenever you can.

You could fix it yourself if you're confident enough or just send it to a professional for repair, if not, the only option left is to get a new one.

I'm not much of a mechanic. I don't know any professionals. I have another controller that I use a lot, but now I can't face anybody, because the only person I really practice with a lot is my brother.

Random: The controller has a control stick that's loose. The c-stick is loose and also leans in a certain way. And when you shake the controller, you can hear something loose inside. It's certainly playable, but problems include

1. Dashing when you mean to walk, and vice versa
2. No c-stick on the left (right, down, and up work usually though)
3. Automatically side-b when you press b, stuff like that
4. Messed up DI
5. No rolling

Slowly starting to enjoy my mothertongue again. :)
Yeah i was about to say, I HIGHLY doubt that an island with 7 million people in it has a suffering smash scene
In all of Germany there's like 50 smashers out of 80 million people. Yeah. The closest person is like an hour away if you're lucky with traffic for me. However, I just recently went to a smashfest so I'm fine. The problem is, my parents insist on
-going with me, and driving me (instead of public transpotation, which is really good in Germany)
-booking a hotel instead of letting me sleep at the smashfest.
-eating lunch with me

all of which raise the cost so much that they say even once a month is too much.

fun fact: i never sucked at smash.
I really don't see how that is possible. I'm sure you sucked the first time you played.

Even if you were an expert SSB64 player, you would still suck the first time you picked up the Gamecube controller. And I highly doubt you went to professional status instantly.

Or am I missing something?

I was exaggerating slightly. Yes 3765 has 230 members, but many of those are not strictly speaking german (a lot are from Austria) and a lot of them are noobs. sO it's liek a 100.

I live in Gahanna, Ohio, it's basically a suburb off of Columbus, and I think my friend Tom and I are the only competitive people in my area, and there are like, no tournys here or in Columbus. Were going to try to go to Cinncinati for some tournys soon though, and he'll have to drive since I can't.(I'm 14.) But I don't think were going till after Febuary because of weather. Until then, I 'm probably going to go to Ohayocon, it's an anime convention, but I'm going for smash. Does anyone else know anything about Ohayocon, like if anyone good is going there, or will it be a n00b fest, like the school tournaments. (EASSSSSSYYYY)

Nice guide, I've got 5 things to say;
1. My controller is a little too broken in xD (In monkey one stage is IMPOSSIBLE with my controller- you just can't build up the required speed)
2. Being as bad as I am, I don't even have to film myself to see my mistakes- I mkae them and no right away what I did wrong but can't change it...
3. No1 I know plays the game- GC is the least popular console round here...people even say ssbm is a slow paced, crappy fighting game...
4. As far as I know there arn't really tournaments hosted round here either.
If anyone knows of Tournaments in Melbourne, or ssbm stuff in Melbourne then PM me- It might be close enough xD
5. My bro rolls all the time- and cuz I'm so noob that's how he beats me...
and because I can't find people to play...you say I'm never gonna get good?
I have a way I can get good- Me and my bro both practise diffrent styles with diffrent chars and work on em xD...**** it...I need get more ppl into ssbm

wow thanks dude this will help alot of newbs although there is already a guide like this
but it is the ONE janitor. You notice the article "the" and the word ONE. This shows he beats the **** out of all those other janitors. Guarenteed.

This guide got me from being horrible to being a little lower than bad. It also cured my skin cancer.

no guys, i wasn't joking.

sure, maybe the first time i played ssb64 i sucked, but i got pretty good. it doesn't really matter because i didn't get competitive until melee.

when melee came out i was pretty good also. in fact i have been the best player in my city ever since the game came out. i don't know what it feels like to be a noob. now i'm like the best ice climbers player in california (or azn_lep is better than me... yeah he might be better) so it's too late for me to be a noob lol.

i wonder what it feels like.

same with me, i practiced 15 mins, and L-canceling is HARD to master(i cant see what it looks like), and my wavedashes are flawing, i shield everytime i wavedash, and, its very ugly looking, and people said that fox is useless without these techs, i NEED them, a litte help?
