Am I the only IC player that has trouble against Yoshi's? Is it just me or are Icey's just a bad match-up for Yoshi?

but about fighting Yoshi with ICs: remember the basics
1) he has no Up B recover
2) his second jump is resistant to any attacks short of a smash (even then i'm not sure)
3) his Smash B attack can fly off the stage (but that only happens if your playing someone really stupid)
4) when ever he does his Down B the stars that he shoots out can stun you so you may need to adjust your distance accordingly


these points should help you . . . unless you had something specific in mind.

If you wanna screw over the 2nd jump, b-air. Wavedash out of your shield for d-smashes and other laggy stuff. Once you hit yoshi, you can do some nasty stuff. Do not get d-tilted. Yoshi can also get some nice juggles on the IC as well.

Yoshi is a good IC counter, all ICs have trouble with that match up. Even Chu.

it all depends on who you play. in my experience, unless the person is a super good Yoshi then they don't pose much of a threat. but to be fair none of my friends don't overly use Yoshi, and when they do i pound them so far out that they never make it back to solid ground.

Yoshi's obviously enjoy DJ fairs, so I when you see a Yoshi jump towards you try upsmashing. Eggs can be annoying, so just spam B.

That's pretty much all the advice I've got, Yoshi is just a good ICs counter.

Seach Fumi on youtube. The biggest problem about Yoshi is his crouch cancel. It really messes up jab combos, and d-tilt can wreck our approaches. While I haven't played a great Yoshi, I'm fairly sure you can chain grab him with either d-throw -> d-smash, or d-throw -> d-air, although I'm not sure about Yoshi's ability to DJC n-airs from grabs. Utilize you u-airs when he's above you. Be careful though, make sure you only hit with the disjointed part of you mallets. If Yoshi's in his second jump he can just n-air you after your u-airs. When edge guarding, b-airs are usually your best bet seeing as they break through Yoshi's second jump faster than any other aerial, and has less lag than a smash. Smashes are great for ledge guarding at higher percentages when you're certain you can break his 2nd jump. Else wise you're better off shffl'ing b-airs and shielding just in case. On top of that if Yoshi dodges, you can immediately smash after a shffl'd b-air

Other than that it's pretty similar to any other battle. Make every grab either KO or rack up loads of damage. Use typical approaches: Nanapult, ice chaser, WD from shield, etc.

I love yoshi vs ic's too lol, its really no a terribly bad match for yoshi at all, down tilt is awesome so is fair when they are off the edge since they can only cancel with up + b which.. is bad lol. xD Down tilt fair is so broken in that matchup lol, also netural b works wonders on nana since she doesn't wiggle and stays in there for like 10 seconds straight, also.. down tilt edge hog gays nana real easy. And yoshi has awesome combos on ic's i don't know what to tell you lol.
