The tournament wasn't too stacked. WaDi hasn't really participated in much events (that isn't a MD/VA local) lately, so it is hard to judge.

Not too much. Everyone is gearing up for Ultimate, so the tournaments that would normally be stacked got shafted in terms of top player representation. I will provide the results for GTX and Midwest Mayhem 12 soon (if someone could reply to this ).

ZeRo did notably announce that he will be competing in Smash Ultimate tournaments under Tempo Storm now. Here is a link to the full video:

I've been in the Ultimate General Discussion thread waiting for new info/chars to be revealed. Now that we know the whole cast, I only care about discussing characters in the game (while they care about DLC speculation now, which is why I left-the only reason I tolerated that thread in the first place is because it was the most bustling Ultimate thread). Unfortunately, we're in that weird phase where actual character discussion is sparce and the Ultimate Discords aren't set up yet. So now I'm in a bind where I want to discuss Smash Ultimate in-depth character analysis and conpetitive impressions...but there's nowhere to really do it

I think the current tier list is still very accurate. With the exception of Lucario who might be too high because of Tsu's upset, pretty much every character seems to be at the right place.

Any changes you think would take place?

Characters like Mega Man, Ness, Wario, Mr. Game & Watch, Ike, Samus, and Pac-Man are loo low in the list. I also feel that Corrin and Duck Hunt is ready to move up to the next tier, to A and C tier, respectively.

Characters like Lucario, Bowser, Lucas, the Pits, and Robin is too high on the tier list. I feel like about half of the E tier should be considered low tier (from Charizard to Palutena). Finally, I think Sheik and Rosalina has surpassed Diddy Kong on the list.

I feel as if the metagame has changed around enough to warrant another list. I want to show my personal tier list to display where I think the characters are now, but obviously I cannot in this thread. So... that is what I have to say.

Edit: Also, there is the fact that the Miis still not in the tier list, despite showing some signs of tournament success without customs.

1111 Gunner is known to be somewhat decent, atd 1111 Swordfighter was at least better than 1111 Brawler, and with some results from Trela. It's really hard to place them anyway.

I wonder where he'll place Corrin this time, still outside of top 15, or inside top 15?

If you know anything about Mii Swordfighter, it's extremely clear he's biased toward the character. For example, he says that Ike isn't scary to shield against from 80%-160% because Dthrow kills so late (Despite Ike having a ****ing throw confirm that he somehow just forgot to mention), and then somehow fails to mention the fact that Swordfighter doesn't even have a killthrow. Swordfighter does not belong at the top of low-tier; he's top of bottom tier at best.

I can at least see his reasoning for Mii Gunner being that high up, but he is definitely overrating her neutral. He also fails to mention that she probably has the worst average damage output per neutral win of any character in the game; she is little miss 4% and a neutral reset.

He also says that Roy's main problem is that his optimal range is close to his body which is a meme that needs to die. His main problem is being a character who wants to play grounded in Smash 4 and doesn't have a broken-ass burst option. He also said that Roy doesn't have a lot of throw combos, which is blatantly untrue. He did mention that Roy's initial dash is bad, though, which is something very often glossed over.

Also, the Pits' main problem is not a lack of standout characteristics. He has **** damage, **** kill power, an exploitable recovery, and bad hitboxes. I agree with ESAM's placement here, but his reasoning is ****ed.

There are some other dumb things he said (Robin's non-book projectiles aren't that good in neutral), but that's my main issues so far.

I think the main reason why people thought Corrin is mid tier, is because he is constantly labeled as a "mid tier character with top tier moves", pointing out his subpar movement speed on the ground. The main reason why people thought 13th was too high for Corrin when the third official tier list came out, is because Corrin really didn't have too much results, especially in comparison to other characters who was in B tier at the time.

However, between that time and the fourth (current) tier list, Corrin mains like Cosmos did then obtain the results needed to prove that Corrin deserves that position, which is why Corrin was ranked 13th in the fourth tier list as well. Since then, Corrin's results did continue to blossom thanks to Cosmos, which pretty much put the nail in the coffin on the "Corrin is a mid tier character" claims. Nothing more than a distant memory.

I argued that once Cosmos got to travel Corrin would get more results. That worked out pretty well, eh? So Corrin (as well as Lucina) are good examples why we shouldn't focus too much on results.

This may be true, and I suppose we should try to learn from it for Ultimate (then again, there are characters who people thought had "potential" that never really showed it, like Yoshi).

You all don't know how long SH has been gone from the Japanese scene! Good to see him somewhere. My Japanese bias is showing, but I have to give credit where it's due. T, HIKARU and Earth for top 50 maybe?

The rankings are starting to look crazy. I do believe that T, HIKARU, and especially Earth will be in top 50.

A few things to note so far: I am happy that Glutonny got a very solid ranking on the PGR for being in a region where it is usually off the PGR radar. These Japanese players are showing up hard. Here are a few surprising placings:

• Mew2King: I actually thought he was going to be ranked higher, due to his great results during the times where he played SSB4 seriously. Nevertheless, I am glad that he got the rankings (though he is ranked 69 at the same time, so no XD).
• Wrath: Another player that I thought would be ranked higher, mostly due to his excellent results in 2018 and his history prior to that. Kudos to him though.
• SH: Congrats on him reaching the PGR top 100. I know about his inactivity for a long time, but his gathered results feels a little underwhelming for his ranking, especially in comparison to other heavy hitters like Konga.
• Taiheita: It is not surprising that he made it to the top 100, but I was surprised that he is ranked that high in the list. His results, although good and reflects being in the top 100, doesn't feel as impressive as other players like Pink Fresh, Wrath, Mew2King, and Zenyou. Considering that his only appearance in the PGR is 49th at v2, kind of enhanced that surprise.
