The first thing that comes to my mind for a 3DS stage is a Star Fox stage. Asteroids and all that pretty space stuff.

Anything could work, but obviously they're probably going to keep the 3D effect in mind with all these stages, so I have a feeling that they might want to use concepts we've never seen in 3D before. Think about Mr. Game and Watch's Flat Zone on the 3DS, ya know?
With Fox confirmed to return, we will surely see Star Fox stages in this new game. The 3D effect sounds neat for more dynamic stages like Brawl's Lylat Cruise. I wouldn't be surprised if we got a stage based on Star Fox 64 on the 3DS thanks to the remake, much like how Gerudo Valley has been confirmed to appear on the 3DS version too.

The Flat Zone stage could have the 3D effect deliberately off to convey the 2D feeling of G&W games.

Yeah, my Flat Zone example wasn't very good. I guess I was thinking about 2D art still popping out... You know how a lot of 3DS games do that. Little things like text boxes are still popping out, even though you don't really think about it.

Pretty much anything could work in 3D, I think.

Well, given that the stage is a giant G&W game, the outside of it would be 3D nevertheless and the % icons would pop out still. (Assuming the % icons are in the top screen, since they could be on the touch screen to avoid cluttering the 3D screen.)

I'd love to see a stage based on Metroid Fusion/Prime Hunters, and definitely a Kirby stage based on Kirby and the Amazing Mirror.

As for the new Metroid stage, we're going to get the Other M stage where she fights Ridley. Instead of music, we're just going to have Samus doing a monologue about her fear of Ridley and her childhood along with mentioning the "baby" 12 times.

Seriously though, Metroid stages are always creative. I can't wait for the new ones c:.

Has anyone tried to make the new stages in Brawl's stage creator? The Nintendogs, Fire Emblem, Gerudo Valley, and Spirit Tracks ones are kind of unique.

Actually yes, I made the Spirit Train, Arena Ferox, and Gerudo Valley. I actually made Gerudo Valley three months ago, and I didn't need to edit it to match the official version.

Well, it appeared on 3DS titles like Pilotwings Resort and Mario Kart 7, but its debut appearance was in Wii Sports Resort, also appearing in other Wii titles.

It could be a stage on both versions, actually. Sakurai suggested that some stages would be in both versions. (Battlefield is one such example, appearing in both versions, although having entirely different aesthetics in each version.)

Technically, the Wuhu Island bowling alley was first in Wii Sports. I don't think the tennis courts in both games were the same.

If the golf courses that are shared by Wii Sports and WSR take place on the nearby Wedge Island (I don't know if they do or it's just the new WSR ones), then Wedge Island's first appearance would have been on the NES Golf in 1984.

King Boo's Dimension - Luigi's Mansion 2/Dark Moon
Smashville New Leaf - Animal Crossing New Leaf
Thunder Cloud Temple - Kid Icarus Uprising

Some area from Legend of Zelda A Link Between Worlds

YES! to all of these. The possibility of Thunder Cloud Temple as a stage is just...my god. So beautiful. Also that music; that insanely amazing music. I'm pretty much rooting for every single one of these now. Gahhhh.

Just a thought, but to anyone who has played Kid Icarus: Uprising, is it just me or does the Wii U's Battlefield look an awful lot like Kid Icarus: Uprising's Palutena Temple? I know Sakurai has worked on both series which is why it looks inspired, but I thought it should've been on the 3DS version instead.

Besides exclusive stages for each console which ones do you think will be on both? Although it would be offtopic...meh.

Well, both stages feature floating islands with temples, hence the similarities. The Skyworld stage from Brawl also had this motif. In fact, Palutena's Temple is situated in Skyworld, according to Kid Icarus canon. (It's not visible on the SSBB Skyworld stage.)

Here's an idea. What if the new stage builder on the 3ds lets you take pictures and then make that the background of a stage your building. You could take a picture of an NES then have Mario, Link, Samus, and Bowser all fight on top of it! How awesome would that be? Maybe you could even transfer the stages you make to the Wiiu version and edit them even further.

I want to see a Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon stage.
I envision it working similar to the "Castle Siege" stage from Brawl. You would start out on Gloomy Manor, and the stage would change to each of the mansions (Gloomy Manor --> Haunted Towers --> Old Clockworks --> Secret Mine --> Treacherous Mansion --> ScareScraper).
King Boo's Illusion could be a stage in of itself. You could have the electric walls as barriers, and King Boo could do things to the stage.

They should also have "Pokemon Stadium 3", as Pokemon X and Y will be 3DS games.

The Pipe Organ Room of Ganondorf's Castcle from OoT 3D could also be a good stage.

"Pokemon Stadium 3" or, as I'd prefer to call it, "Pokemon Colosseum" should be a Wii U exclusive stage, as, obviously, Pokemon Stadiums 1&2 were named after the games of the same name.
EDIT: The 3DS version could have a version based on the Pokemon World Tournament from Black2/White2. The final round music is freaking epic!

I hope the stages aren't only drawn from DS and 3DS games. Some classic Game Boy/GBC/GBA games need to be represented too.

Sarasaland, for example (i.e. Super Mario Land)

Tal Tal Heights from Link's Awakening would be cool (with the Windfish Egg in the background). Tal Tal Heights and the Ballad of the Windfish would be cool songs to go with it.

A Link to the Past could get a stage, between appearing with Four Swords and now its overworld being featured in A Link Between Worlds, it would make sense too.

Wario Land might get a stage as well.

And I suppose if there's going to be a Mega Man stage in both games, then something inspired by Mega Man Battle Network might make sense.

And this is I guess true for both versions, but I hope we get a Metroid stage that features neither lava/acid nor an annoying gimmick like Frigate Orpheon. Plenty of choices for locations like that (Crateria, Brinstar, upper Maridia, Shipwreck, Chozo Ruins, places in Metroid Fusion)

Spirit Trials? Agreed. Complete with all the huge, creepy statues awakening every once in a while. Or if someone steps in a rainbow puddle.

And also, I give you a thumbs up for including Venus Lighthouse. The theme would make a great song.

Mario Zone from Super Mario Land 2 (GB). Make it happen Nintendo:

You would be fighting inside of (or on) a giant mechanical Mario with several moving parts. Has potential to be a really gimmicky stage, though.
