It's funny how the game looks sort of..."bootleg" compared to melee lol. I guess it's because I'm so used to Melee's speed...haha. Nice stuff though, the Fox player was putting in work on that sandbag haha.

lol maybe if this game has lighting mode it will be the equivalent to melee's speed and could potentially fun... cause my god that was some pretty slow game play

Yeah, about half of those vids aren't too hot. I think one of the gameplays was actually of the kid's dad playing? =P

The most recent vid is pretty awful, but some of those gave me hope for competitive play.
SSBB Meljin (Fox/falco) vs WilloW (Falcon) < That one was alright

I see Falco trying the SHL a lot, but it doesn't work because his short hop is too high. I wonder if you can just fast fall the short hop and then laser to compensate for that.

I don't get why everyone is downplaying the slower pace of this game. I think it is going to be better, but that's really because I'm better at SSB64 than melee. I'm also not sure if these people are short hopping or if it's a full jump because I saw some double lasers, but I think it was a full jump.

Looks like Falco can still SHL, but without the fastfall.

A pretty good watch. Was interesting to try to predict winners based on estimated tiers/etc. before watching. : )
(Note, I usually got the winner wrong : P )

yes, everyone worrying about brawls competive potential should watch these vids, its exacty how pros/people played meele when it first came out, now just imagine a few years down the line when everyones figured out how to effectivelly play this game, it will look drasticly different.

The fox player seemed to be able to pull off some short hop aerials, but Falco just seemed to jump too high (or the player just wasn't short hopping).

Also, Pika's down smash is beastly...

Nah, this isn't the same. The difference between early Melee and modern melee was the discovery of l-cancelling really. Without that, the transformation wouldn't have been that significant. These videos give us some hope, but unless we find a way to l-cancel, Brawl isn't going to go far competitively.

You'd be surprised at how far popularity can make a game go competitively.

I'm hoping that the fact that aerials have less lag now gives us a decent roster of playable characters for competitive Smash.

Unfortuently, that's not true for the likes of Gannondorf and Ike. With L-Canceling removed, they could very well be gimped. :(

l-canceling was in ssb (n64) so that had nothing to do with it, what happed is that the more people played the more people figured out what worked and what didnt and the same will hold true for this game.

also the marth vs. pikachu match on corneria was like a dream match between ssb pikachu and melee marth

I don't know, but the trip definitely has something to do with the beginning of a dash.

Stole the post right from my keyboard.

This was almost refreshing to see, though, I have to say, the one I watched wasn't that great.
But still, it just goes to show that we will try, and we will most likely succeed.

Some of them were good, some of them were pretty bad.

I watched the Metaknight video and I think you guys are getting worked up over nothing, he is fighting a predictable CP that is also a big slow target (bowser).
