PANELISTS: dmbrandon, Doom, Zucco

(btw, we don't have a lead panelist)

Due to these recent events, we in 100% Juice have decided to break off from the New Jersey Power Rankings and create our own system. We believe this is a more fair, unbiased, and accurate ranking list and will satisfy the needs and wants of the New Jersey Brawl community in a superior fashion.

RANKINGS RULES - In order to be ranked, you must satisfy these prerequisites:

  • Must have entered at least three tournaments, two of which are within the tristate (New Jersey/New York/Pennsylvania) area
  • Must be a full-time (or as close to it as you can get) resident of New Jersey
  • Must submit an entirely factual win/loss record every season OR confirm EVERY attended tournament on AllisBrawl

STIPULATIONS REGARDING SET WEIGHT - Question on how much your set counts for? Look here:

  • All tournament sets with an entry of $5 or more and at least 8 entrants and no restrictions placed on character selection will be used to determine rankings
  • Money match sets for $5 or more involving main characters between two New Jersey residents will be used to determine rankings. For a money match to count, it must be mutually agreed upon by both players and a panelist, as well as supervised by a panelist
  • Money match sets for $10 or more involving main characters between a New Jersey resident and an out-of-state player will be used to determine rankings. For a money match to count, it must be mutually agreed upon by both players and a panelist, as well as supervised by a panelist
  • The weight of sets is as follows: tournament set (1.0) > money match (~0.8) > character-locked money match (~0.7)
  • Losses in both money matches and tournament will be used as penalization, weight of losses is based on the skill gap between the two players

RANKINGS FORMAT - The rankings will look different from the traditional 1-10/15 power ranking that the New Jersey power rankings. Rather than numbering each rank individually from 1 to 10/15, we will instead be grouping players into tiers based on relative skill/accomplishment level and ordering them alphabetically. For example, if the season's rankings are

1. ADHD
2. Atomsk
3. MalcolmM
4. Zucco
5. dmbrandon
6. Inui
7. Keitaro
8. Doom
9. Orion
10. Big M

then the new system would have it look like this

SS: ADHD
S: Atomsk
A: dmbrandon, MalcolmM, Zucco
B: Inui, Keitaro
C: Big M, Doom, Orion

We feel that this eliminates any room for bias and, by default, settles any very close spot disputes.

SEASON LENGTH - Recently, the length of a particular season and the amount of accessible tournaments in it has been the topic of much controversy. The season was extended once and almost twice, and we'd like to avoid that happening again. From now on,

one ranking season will last for either the time it takes for SIX New Jersey tournaments with at least 24 entrants (if less, at least five (5) power-ranked players must have entered) to be hosted, or a maximum of 90 days. The season will end immediately after the ninetieth day or the sixth tournament.

That said, here is the

100% Juice Winter 2009-10 Power Ranking

though why does it have to be $10 for OOS? why can't it just be $5? whats the difference?

also my argument from the NJ thread still stands about the $ amount for MMs not rly mattering. i personally dont like MM'ing for $5 too often as I'd rather MM more people for less money (like 2-3). like if i go to a tourney and set aside $15 for MM's, I'd rather do 5 $3 MMs than 3 $5 MMs so I can get more results with people. As long as both people agree that it's for rankings before hand, the $2 shouldn't make ppl play "more" serious

and as for the weight...
uhhhh .8 of what? .7 of what? 1.0 of what? We're not dealing with a point system that we can multiply here

btw if u havnt figured from all my talk recently on the subject and what i said in the other thread, i'd like to be on this starting with this season. my permanent addy is in NJ, my college addy is 5 min from the border, and im consistently hosting/attending in NJ now.

Most other states don't count money matches and face no penalization for losing them. $10 will ensure a serious set.

But it does. Who's going to give their all for two dollars? When I play $1 MMs, they're either random dittos or I sandbag.

Rough estimate of how much they count for. A MM counts for a little less than a tournament set.

You cannot be ranked in PA and NJ. It's your choice.

Can you put in writing that a money match doesn't have to count for rankings if it's agreed not to?

That's already covered. Needs mutual agreement between players and panelist approval.

People would play seriously in a $2 or $3 MM if before it you agree that it's for rankings, just as in the contrary that you agree that a set might not be used for rankings.

Also, I know a lot of times it's normally not done, but why couldn't I be ranked in both NJ and PA? I know for a while in Melee Lord Knight was ranked in both since his situation is the same as mine (home in NJ, college in PA). As long as I'm active in both states :/ (In the past I haven't really been active in NJ but I am now)

The idea is cool, but to make another thread is not. If you have a problem, then just change the current ranking thread or it will hold no wait. No reason for 2, this will just start to make people go crazy and make 80 seperate threads. No sense, just add this cool idea to the current one.

I know the specific inner-workings of this ranking format. It's more objective than the current NJ ranking thread. If you disagree, well, no one is forcing you to participate in this project.

You seem to care an awful lot about a ranking system for a game you dont really care about, not to mention its SINGLES and we all know how you grow tired and never try ever anyway, and always call it inferior to Melee whenever you get the chance.

I care about your blatant disrespect, ignorance, and meatriding of an awful person, child.

I havent done anything wrong as far as im concerned. Sorry if I think dmbrandon outdid you by alittle bit this season. If you really care you should just come back and prove you are better next time.

lol at this being meatriding
Fool! Clearly you don't grasp the extent to which you are meatridin' dmbrandon. This ranking thread is clearly a mockery of an authentic rankings thread! Nothing rivals the objective opinions and combined efforts of the true New Jersey panel from New Jersey!

Can me and doom be #1 on the doubles PR?

No but seriously, we're the ****ing ****.

Anyways, yeah at Pound 4, I lost every single MM that wasn't at $5. Every mm I won was $5+. I honestly TRY to take the matches seriously...it's just hard when you have nothing to lose. I don't feeeeeeeel like mashing out of your grabs...ya know?

Inui, you're the fool here if you're really going to let a friendship go over rankings. I thought teams was bad enough, but this is ridiculous.

I'm not meatriding Brandon, I'm working on a project. We've had this idea long before you even started getting out of hand with some decisions for the rankings. He's my friend and crewmate, as he is to Zucco. We're just doing our own thing, not sucking anyone's ****.

For the record, while he does say his share of super mean **** to you (which I don't agree with all the time, but it's hilarious and his criticisms are in hopes that you'll wake up and smell the coffee), you calling him "pure evil" is bizarre and completely uncalled for.

If you don't support this idea, that's completely fine. Just don't make a big deal out of it.

Edit: <3 Hyro. Go to Apex and we'll **** teams. Undefeated status. Even against Lee Martin and Atomsk!

honestly lets just combine the two threads. or have the panelest from the other one approve of this. basically have one with a 1234 order and this tier one. i really like this tier one

but umm a little maturity is missing in the posts. and inui for gods sake u talk so much u contradict urself so stand ur ground and decide on what u want. one day u say picking snake vs u is auto win the next ur saying only ally can beat u. one day doubles ftw the next nope doubles ranking suxx.

CONSISTANCY!!!!

btw no1 try to split up NJ. we are wahy too beastly at the game.

I love how people think it's "rankings" and "teams" and that's it and that there's no underlying reasons or anything. Pretty cute.

I stand by my previous statement. Every panelist sans Keitaro was on the panel due to my recommendation and backing, and now they're turning on me. You made it clear recently that you're dmbrandon's boy now, and he's certainly an enemy of mine. In fact...100% Juice itself annoys the crap out of me. Too much of you involves things I hate.

So, there you have it.

these rankings are really nice, im guessing there will be D and F tier when its back to top 15?
There's this nice little letter called "E" that comes between D and F. :)

Yeah, if NJ ever steps its activity + power combo back up, we can add tiers for top 15.

Btw, this project is going to expand. We're gonna start talking to NY, PA, MD/VA and NE to see what we can do about an Atlantic North top 25 or something.

Nobody is trying to divide New Jersey. This is Juice's project to track the rankings, we're not seeking a following.
