Come to Practice your Written/Conversational Japanese!

If there is anyone more familiar with the language than others, or if there are native speakers, please feel free to correct others, including myself, about grammatical or phrasing errors that normal speakers would do differently.

Topics? Anything
Formality? Up to the speaker
Kanji? Use only what you have already formally learned. Dont spam the space bar to try and use kanji that you dont already know how to write.

Romaji is for the lazy. Use the Japanese Language Pack.
Use Romaji only if you must.

はじめましょう!

I just want to know how to say "I lost The Game". Google translator has this: 私はゲームを失った. Just wondering how accurate it is. If it's not, then can you provide a better translation. Thanks.

Meh I can't read katakana / hirogana, since I've just barely gotten into Japanese.

Romaji is for the lazy and the beginners. :p

Wakaranai. Gomenasai.

私は日本語をいいわからない、でもがんばる!

Been studying for a while now (soon to hit a year, or two, or just a half, depending on what counts as my starting point), my vocabulary is way small, and my kanji knowledge even smaller. But I've learnt quite a lot English vocabulary through using the language and checking dictionaries every moment needed and/or possible, and it seemed to work fine. I guess it won't hurt to do that. Even if I won't post here, I'll still (try to) read most of it, for excercise.

This thread could be cool. I started learning Japanese for about 9 months and was fairly good at it. I ended up meeting hundreds of people from Japan and was capable of carrying a decent conversation. Due to personal reasons I stopped practicing and I feel like I've lost everything. :c I need to start again.

俺は今大学生なんですけど、自分の大学で毎週の水曜日に日本語101−202を教えてる。高校生の時から勉強してる ええと、5年々前から勉強してる。皆さん!漢字ちゃんと勉強しろ!やべえ大切だろう。

I'm a college student, but I teach Japanese 101 to 202 every wednesday. I've been studying Japanese since highschool, so... about 5 ish years. EVERYONE! Study Kanji! It's f*king important!

~If anyone has any questions about Japanese, feel free to ask. There's like 15 ish exchange students from Japan at my school, so even if I don't know, I can find out very easily.

Shmot: 千葉はどう?俺は千葉でホームステイしたことあるよ。俺はたぶん来年早稲田大学に入る。。。たぶん。

EDIT: I used completely non-polite Japanese for this post, so it may seem really weird (because you learn polite stuff first), but I promise it's all correct.

I didn't.
I can't say if it seems weird though, as I can't understand most of the kanji in that post. :ohwell:

Whoops. Forgot that I also wanted to know how to pronounce it. Or you can direct me to where I can learn how to pronounce the characters. If you can't remember or are too lazy to check, I was asking for "I lost The Game". Thanks again.

I learned Cantonese, Mandarin, Hakka, English, and Italian before learning Japanese.

-Terywj
My point was more against English people who learn Japanese because they love video games or anime. Anyone who learns Mandarin (I can only assume you learned all three because you're chinese, because that seems overkill) is obviously immune from that

Yes! Now I can watch anime without those English subs....
NOOO!!!
That's not a reason to learn a language for... Or a very bad reason by most.
People like this are why studying Japanese is often seen in a negative light.

Bah! I had Japanese for two years and sadly, I forgot most of it due to the lack of use. T.T

So now I'm gonna learn Korean! I'm betraying you guys! >:U

Don't mind my romanji, I'm too lazy to go to Wikipedia and copy and paste every character and make my computer use Japanese characters

Ohayoo gozaimasu! Watashi no namae wa Joshua desu. Watashi wa kyo shigoto o ikimasu... T.T

To be honest, I would love to use it more often here but I just forgot soooo many words and grammar related things. So I make caveman sentences.

Using:
ゲームを負けました
Well, the romaji is "Geemu wo makema****a" which, if explained how it would be pronounced with English sounds would be something like "Game oh mah/kay/mah/she/tah"
