I don't see the appeal in playing a game intentionally designed to be easy

I think they're relaxing is all. For me, most of the fun comes from looking for collectibles and doing extra challenges like Boss Rushes and things like that.

So kids can get eased into playing games. Not all of them want to die 20 times trying to jump over a speeding bike section, fight undead nasties or break crates that explode.
