I mean you literally ride around on a giant PS5 controller and have to rebuild a PS5 lol. I think they're pretty much equally ads for Sony and Nintendo, it just doesn't really matter much. A good chunk of the titles in both Astro Bot and Smash are stuff you cannot legally buy on the current consoles.

My concern isn't really "which is more of an ad", as much as why the "crossover = advert" discourse tends to exclude Smash if that makes sense, you could probably swap Astro Bot in this post for any of Disney or WB's many crossovers - even outside of gaming - and get the same sort of point across.

Astro Bot is Sony's celebration of Playstation over the years. Smash Bros is a celebration of Gaming as a whole in the form for the Hall of Fame.
You can see the difference, but while Sony doesn't give the description of the bots cosplaying as past characters, you knowing them is a bonus. If not, it does give people an excuse to find the character's series.
