One thing I like about this, as someone who thoroughly enjoys obnoxiously nitpicking, is this:

No, it is not permitted to use Nintendo game logos, character images, game images, music, or sound effects for Community Tournament promotions, venue decorations, or venue background music. However, you are permitted to use footage and screenshots captured from Nintendo games for promotional materials for your tournament.

This means, in practice, that you're technically allowed to advertise your small tournament with a screenshot of the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate logo from the Nintendo Switch hardware whilst running the game, but are not allowed to use a PNG of the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate logo from any other source - such as Google Images. Which is honestly hilarious.

Jokes aside, I do think there's actually a lot of good here, things like ensuring transparency in expenditures, ensuring organisers are actually of legal age, and so forth, but there's also a lot of things that just seem really out of touch, as well as a few that'll be interesting to see play out over time. I'm honestly kind of interested to see where this goes moving forward

Prize pool price caps are screwed up, but TO revenue caps have been power-drilled into the other side of the wall. What a dystopian idea, not sure if that's already a common eSports thing but I sure hope not.

I have no doubt that the Smash scene will continue even through these guidelines, but this is probably gonna be a huge blow - Not being able to make much money off tournaments will likely hinder many organizers' ability to.

that said i bet nintendo will give up on enforcing these after like six months tops

Hold up, money prizes are outright banned. It has to be a tangible object. This is a nightmare. Competitive latest-Smash players are in hell

Oh wait, no, it gets worse... this is for all Nintendo games. Praying for Melee and ROM hack fans RN.
