Gee, theaters really are a dying breed now, are they?

how many people skip out on going to the theaters nowadays in favor of waiting for the movie to come out on streaming platforms, is underperforming in theaters really that big a deal now?
I feel that streaming was always going to be a major obstacle and challenge that all theaters and the box office will face and studios will have to find a solution to unwind this.

Whilst I cannot speak about the performance of Ruby Gillman, although Disney took a gamble by taking Elementals to the Cannes Festival which didn't quite pay off (even though the word of mouth reception from audiences are still very good.)

It's true that movie theaters are dying with covid speeding up the process. Sad that elemental and Ruby Gillman didn't do well, but it won't stop me from watching them and perhaps buy the dvd. Afterall, DVDs are the better safetynet in case internet is down.

Family movies have always had good shelf-lives in DVD form and I think the same principle applies to streaming services.

I think Elemental and Ruby Gillman underperforming at the box office aren't the death nails angry animation nerds think they are, and if I'm understanding correctly Elemental isn't actually doing as horrendous as the bad opening weekend would make you think.
