You were literally being racist.

No I wasn't. Theres nothing racist about noticing selective outrage. No, it making you uncomfortable doesn't make it racist.

You were probably the guy who reported my post now that I think about it lmao

Even if you disagree, what he said wasn't racist. He never said that one race was better or that one was worse. He actually called out racism by pointing out that an actor was receiving backlash because of the color of their skin.

Linkmain-maybe Linkmain-maybe PhantomShab PhantomShab That's not what racism is. There's more to racism than just flinging slurs and lynching people, and it's not always practiced in malice. The reason the outrage is selective is because of different historical contexts - white people see one another in the media all the time, and have historically been the oppressors of everyone else in all aspects of life - even after the "abolition" [citation needed] of slavery; POCs almost never see themselves or their culture in media, when they do it's often attached to some kind of stereotyping, and have historically been oppressed, even in places like show-business, so any representation they have in any context is extremely valuable.

I'm not saying that POC haven't been significantly underrepresented in media. They are, even if we have made significant strides in fixing that. The issue here is that in this case an actor faced backlash due to the color of their skin despite their race being the same as the character they are portraying.

Contrast with other examples of race swapping where characters are replaced by black actors, even in places where it historically doesn't make sense, and is applauded. Granted, I am not black and appear white. However, its also worth noting that some POC also feel that race-swapping is pointless and insulting.

Virtually all my friends are either black or hispanic, and they too view it as stupid when characters are race-swapped because its shallow representation. Obviously they don't represent their entire populations, but I would say it does show good insight as to how POC feel about it.

I wouldn't bother arguing with people who think that only certain people can be the victim of racism. Anyone that wrong and that unaware of it is beyond reason.

Also moderators do it for free, to get back on topic lol

"Moderators do it for free" is literally just a 4chan phrase. Try to be subtle next time.

Anyone can be victim of discrimination, that's true, but certain things (or really anything except direct verbal assault) are only discrimination when applied to a minority - there's a greater systemic context.

Its a phrase thats also true, its origin is irrelevant.

That moderation was definitely uncalled for and the post was clearly meant as a cultural critique towards the reaction of certain groups.

The funny thing about racism is that it is race agnostic by definition. Regardless of the reasoning, any attempt to single out or exempt a certain race is racism, aka discrimination by race. It doesn't matter whether it carries positive or negative connotations (that's bias itself) nor is there any room for using specific countries or certain periods in history (that's also bias). In fact, "historical context" is frequently the basis for discrimination when you look at race-based oppression and race wars across history. Forget "POC", what constitutes being white frequently changes throughout history based on which power structure wants a war/genocide. Race was the original fluid identity; just ask Russians or the Irish.

Yeah it was definitely uncalled for. Right now I'm currently waiting on a response about this in the "ask an admin" section. Not the first time I had to get a mod's foolishness overturned there and it definitely won't be the last either lol
PhantomShab

Still waiting as of Friday. The admins here can take a VERY long time to respond sadly.

Still no reply and tomorrow will mark an entire week. The admin staff really take too long to respond to posts.

I think they're not responding because they think racism is wrong.

They've taken a week+ to respond to every thread I make, even when they agree that I was in the right. Also nothing I posted was racist. Oh and now I definitely know it was you who reported me now.
