pardon my ignorance, but wouldn't they be using those specific renders because they're the first 8 characters from the smash series (and also contains quite a few of the most marketable characters overall)? though, i do get what you're getting at - it's a bit odd for a competitive-smash oriented banner not to include like marth or puff

Yeah, that's certainly the case - would make sense if it was something casual like the E3 invitationals, but not so much for high level competitive play.

I'll give them this - it does look pretty, the colors and all. But it looks more to me like something Nintendo would make for one of their themed online SSBU tournaments, not a banner of a high-profile competitive Smash organization's Twitter.
