Because this is the closest we'll get to a true celebration, Corporate greed and brand integrity limits what we can do

Nintendo won't allow their stuff to appear on other consoles

Sony only allows things to appear on other consoles if the game is playable on their system,

There is no real way to have a true celebration of gaming.

How else would you label a game that has Mario, Pikachu, Sonic, Pac-Man, Cloud Strife, and Minecraft Steve fight each other? Because I sure as hell wouldn't call it a Nintendo crossover with a few guests. Third-parties have become such an integral part of Smash's identity that the only thing that limits them is corporate agreements. It obviously can't realistically include every developer under its umbrella, that's just not realistic, but the fact we have characters 8 different game companies including two console manufacturers is nothing to sneeze at

Also Cloud is a PlayStation icon so he basically covers the Sony """representation"" aspect

It is a celebration of gaming. Be mad Sony won't play ball. Not Nintendo's fault. If Sony wants to miss out on the biggest crossover in gaming history that's on them.

Y'all are focusing on the Sony point and not the "most of the roster is Nintendo" point.

OK, but do they make up 80% of important gaming innovations?

No
But they made Smash

And if they get priority for that, it's inherently not a celebration of gaming history because Nintendo is not all, most, or even half of gaming history. Same if Sony, Microsoft, Activision, Sega, or whoever made Smash.

Smash does not have a deeper meaning or significance of any sort. It's just a big crossover palooza, let's not treat it as anything bigger - especially if it's impossible to make a true gaming celebration.
