Star Fox 2 would have introduced two female members to the Star Fox team (a cat and a dog). The idea wasn't used in Star Fox 64. However, Katt Monroe and Bill Grey are of the same species as these two scrapped characters.

Almost every game of the Gradius series and its spinoffs has the same recurring boss who is nicknamed "Core".

The only character who is playable in all Parodius games is Vic Viper. The octopus Takosuke was in all Parodius game, however, not playable in the last installment (although being a main character and boss of the playable ones).

HSOWA is an acronym that stands for Hot Skitty On Wailord Action. It is derived from the fact that Skitty and Wailord can breed in the games despite the massive size difference.
The term originates from GameFAQs where, when this topic came up, the user Endgame reportedly said "HOT SKITTY ON WAILORD ACTION!".
Parodius Da! for the SNES is normally mistaken to be the first game in the Parodius series. That is wrong, as the first game was a Japan-only release for the MSX called simply "Parodius". It's considered being the worst game of the series.
