Im sorry I ddidnt quite understand your last post.
From what I did gather you want to know what genres I play? Well my piano teacher teaches me classsical, but in my sare time I enjoy playing rock and alternative music.
depends on when they are and if they're worth it. I'm not going to just say yes because it's a tourney in warner robins. I've been burned by people in this city enough.:laugh::laugh:
As in 2morrow? Nothing special, I never do anything for thanksgiving. Might go over to my friend's house and play games for a while.
All you have to worry about right now is school, and **** is so easy. I wish I was back in high school, that **** was a joke. Sit your *** on a bus or however you get to school, sit in class and pay attention, do the work, make the grades, yada yada.

The school system is so wack now-a-day, and so are teachers (read: people). Alot of teachers just give you frickin effort grades. So like, if you do the work you'll get the grade. If not, put in the extra work (as for help, study sessions, etc etc) and do it.

With parents, if you realistically just do what you're supposed to do, they'll stfu and leave you alone. I've never had that problem, nor have I met a friend who REALLY had that problem. Now don't get me wrong, I do have some friends who's parents are complete jerks in one way or another, but they still don't/didn't get shafted as long as they actually did what they were supposed to.

And again, it's not like you're being asked to do anything hard yet.

If you're having problems with the material, ask for help. Beyond that, nothing in high school really matters. The clubs, popularity, yadayada, all that stuff is mostly irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. Only matters if you plan on going on and "continuing in that field" (i.e., band REALLY only matters if you're going to college to major in music."
So you show up for the brawl day and not the melee day.

Did you atleast play any friendlies when you showed up, although the only outstanding melee player there was chops.
You could try actually reading the doc forums. I mean, people post useful stuff very often, no matter how big or how small it is.
    http://www.smashboards.com/showpost.php?p=8744130&postcount=5026

I mean, you're asking me a real broad question, especially considering you dont go to tourneys. Like, I could tell you stuff, but half of it doesnt work on people with no experience because you can just do the dumb obvious and it works everytime.

I.e., I could teach you the logic behind doc's fakehop, but pretty much anybody you play doesnt actually know how to recover, all you have to do is either

    1) hold the ledge, make them up+b onto the stage, and punish by sending them off again

    or

    2) jump and b.air

    and you'll edgeguard them everytime.

    __

I could tell you like, all of your options for chaingrabbing, but I want to say speedace is the only person i've ever met in warner robins that actually knows DI exists in smash, period; and I want to say he doesnt even DI throws till you throw him like, a crapload of times. >.>
yeah, it's called knowing that pills dont really work and they're not a good projectile. the only thing you can realistically do with a pill is study/predict how an opponent reacts to where you place it as opposed to banking on it doing something like good projectiles (i.e. falco's lasers) because pills arent good by any stretch of the imagination.
depends on who's there, cause if like, gapeach is there, i'll probably wind up playing sf4, ggac, mbaa and alot of other various other fighters. Im assuming he actually wouldnt be coming though.

And I never said GA sucks, except for maybe the brawl community. Infact, in that last group of posts i said CGA and SGA specifically, ATL is always decent to great at various fighters, with arguably one of the best communities in Tekken.

The melee scene doesnt really have too much of a problem having big tourneys. But they're never in CGA or SGA for obvious reasons, which until now has been "because i havent dont it", really. With the way everything is looking for this one, it'll be kinda hard to convince OoS people to come to another one unless somebody with alot of rep is hosting it. There are alot of bad stuff goin on atm with it.

And I actually have gone to a few majors. I've been making it out of pools but aside from TO5 (which wasnt huge by any stretch) i've never made it past double digits.
Oh, and im sorry you fell pray to the stupid smash ritual of putting big name people in thread titles. M2k said he's not coming. Wouldnt really be surprised pb&j still conned him into coming, but like I said last post, he really has no reason to come.

He doesnt like brawl that much, and melee's got no incentive.
I never said anything about brawl.

It's not that people dont care, there's NEVER been an interest for gaming in central or south ga. EVER. That's how it is. It kinda leads into why "The South" is never considered a big entity in any gaming community. Low population, people spread far out, etc, etc.

No I didnt know Kyd was back, i NEVER talk to him. I hope you realize that when I was in high school 5 years ago I didnt go to northside. Only reason I know kyd is through one random LOI tourney and taking them to Tipped Off 3.

And Jamaal (Pervatasaurus, the guy who's running the tourney, NOT LEGENDARY GAMES) is going to cancel the melee tourney. He's already gotten too much heat from the melee community to start it up, especially since he's trying to ditch brawl for melee. Ironically, it wouldnt be too surprising if he DID cancel the tourney because again, it wont be huge.

When I say it wont be huge, i realistically just mean no melee only player has a reason to travel to it (unless they're hurting for money and absolutely positive they're going to win. I think FL said they were coming, including hungrybox and colbol, so I could count the people in the region on my hand that still would have a reason to drive here).

I'd imagine some brawl players who wind up staying at the store might be interested in staying for melee the next day. It just matters how good they are and if they're willing to put money down for experience. That excludes the brawl players that are just good at melee (or the melee players who just play brawl for money)
And come to think of it, not many melee players are actually going to be there. I'll assume you havent been reading the thread because no melee players seem to read very often.

There's no OoS bonus for melee, and there's really no housing within a hour'n'fifteen radius around warner robins. So unless alot of people just randomly pool together (which probably WONT happen seeing as alot of melee players in state dont really care), it's not going to be big.

Then again, most people also dont realize melee is a side event on sunday.
i mean, you could give me a day and time, but i'm just assuming it'll get canceled again like every other LOI tourney i've heard about in the past 2 years.
Yes actually, since I play smash infrequently now because my Wii broke.

Of course he's back. He told everyone he'd be back on the 20th. False date - what a Kyd tactic. The first thing I'll tell him Saturday is to GTFO of my sight lol.
That's shows how much you know, cause realistically alot of people DONT. The ones I talk to for various reasons do, but that's realistically it. I dont win tourneys, and the only time I've been out of region was pound 2.

What got me "hooked" on melee? How easy it is. Realistically I did start playing in 01, but it was just casuals and whatnot, didnt know tourneys even happened for this game. Stopped player like, summer 01 because the only person I played with moved, so I went on to play other games (i played NOTHING seriously at that point)

From about 02-04, I didnt get on smashboards at all because I wasnt accepted in the backroom because I disagreed with "the current tierlist and metagame". It's fine because the concept of a backroom is the worst thing ever for a community, but that's how smash operates.

That all-in-all kept me from looking at the game much until 04 when I was in college. Went to a SC2 tourney on campus and destroyed everybody. While I was there, i ran into some people who blew at SC and were like "Man, I wish they had a tourney for melee." So we started playing melee and eventually threw a tourney on campus. **** didnt turn out so well because Valdosta is almost as bad as Warner Robins.

First real tourney I went to was MLG Orlando my sophomore year in college. I'd heard about MLG at that point, didnt know they were doing smash. Read about them having melee on tourney and was like "Kool, hope they do it next year". They did it the next year and I had some random people ask me if I wanted to go, i was like "Sure, why the hell not, it's college and im supposed to take cool trips." Mad kool tourney. 2nd seed in my pools, but did overall bad in brackets. 1 win away from pro brackets. :|

After that, I actually went back on SWF to see if there were any tourneys outside of MLG (cause my friends and I used to trash SWF hard, we still do from time to time). Turns out, smash is it's own little community, and that just kinda evolved to what it is today.

    __

As for what GAMEPLAY wise got me into the game? It's easy. Ridiculously easy. The techs are, in large, easy. Everybody tries to make smash out to be some super hard game, but it's really not. And infact, the fact that they PUSH it as hard is why the community is nowhere near as big as it could be.

But yeah, learning how to l-cancel and wavedash and whatnot takes no more than 5 minutes, and then working consistency is easy since you have to do the stuff all the time. It's not like you have a small frame window or anything. Try learning 1 frame links in sf4, and even that game is fairly easy. And then melee strats are fairly freeform because there are so many variables in the game. It really is a GOOD starter game for trying to get into competitive gaming.
lol i guess. It's not like me saying no is going to change anything. I was actually about to ask you if the buildings were labeled at northside.

If I happen to have money that weekend, i'd be more likely to go to the waba monthly though.
dont worry about catering to me.

When it's all said and done, I still have never heard about a time and an actual list of everything that's supposed to be happening, seeing as it's supposed to be more than just melee.

One guy from the card shop actually asked me about it, but seeing as I have absolutely no information, there's nothing to tell people.
There isnt. My point is that you cant please everybody in smash. That's how it goes. There have always been complaints about EVERY tourney for something in the rule set. I mean some people believe the only neutrals that should be allowed are FD and Stadium. Hell, some people think the entire tourney should only be played on those stages. And people who kept up with the *** scene believe that all tourneys should ONLY be played on FD.

    And it's called invisible mode.
*watches what I said fly clean over your head*

I just told you there really IS no standard. Like, I hope you didnt take the ones out of the tourney listings, cause NOBODY ever uses those. Infact, 90% of the melee community doesnt know those were ever posted because rainbow cruise as a doubles neutral is a terrible idea.
The rules is all you. That's one thing that sucks about being a TO for smash, rules are really cut and dry. So realistically, I could tell you something and somebody could rightfully turn around and complain about it.
