It's on the Wii. BlazBlue will be having an update on the 360 and PS3 out next year. They haven't specified when though.

With respect to Smash, BlazBlue and most other fighters are very well balanced. Brawl's balance is so bad that we have it all the way to either G or H.

When you have smaller amounts of tier categories, that typically means that the balance is decent enough to where most, if not all of the characters are viable.

Here's a tier list for GGAC+ from a few years ago.
S: Eddie
A+: Testament, Jam, Slayer
A: Millia, May, Baiken
A-: Potemkin, Aba, Chipp, Sol, Venom, Robo-Ky, Order Sol
B+: Axl, Anji, Dizzy, Faust, Ky, I-No, Zappa, Bridget
B-: Johnny

Here, you're looking at what's considered to be the most balanced 2D fighter. You could say it's so balanced that two of the categories are made up of two sub-categories just to distinguish them.

Here's some fighters you should look at.

Street Fighter IV AE (get the disc release and the patch is free)
Tekken 6
King of Fighters XIII
Virtua Fighter 5 (Deepest fighter, but barely anyone plays it)
Guilty Gear XX Accent Core+ - This one is on the Wii and PS2.

BlazBlue Continuum Shift Extend - This one will include Relius as well. Instead of getting the current CS, save yourself some money and wait for this one to come out.

I would not start with Mortal Kombat as the game's blocking system will screw you over in other fighting games. For getting good, I recommend just messing around with the games and just go nuts on it. Learn by trial and error which is what I like to do. For getting an arcade stick, I suggest borrowing someone else's before getting one as it's a bit of an investment. They aren't required though as a number of pros use pads (but not the 360 analog controllers). If you ever have any questions about these games, don't hesitate to visit the Light House threads. We always lend a helping hand.
