Oh, was it Nintendo who decided the DLC last time, too? I didn't know that. Last time I was in here before Ultimate speculation, people were blaming Corrin on Sakurai bias because he likes FE.

I mean, I probably wouldn't have picked Corrin at the time Sakurai did, but it's still the character I would have preferred from Fates. I like the partial dragon transformation moves, and thought they were the best way to have a Manakete in Smash.

If I had my way, Roy would be replaced by Hector, Lucina and Chrom would be costume alts of Marth and Ike, and Anna would be in Smash as a representative of the series as a whole and of the whole weapons triangle. Edit: and Corrin and Robin would still be there.

I see no reason to suppose that Spirits disqualify characters from being DLC anymore than Mewtwo's trophy in Smash 3DS disqualified Mewtwo. Spirits are literally the replacement for trophies, after all.

I would guess that spirits have no bearing on DLC. They're the replacement for trophies, and we already know that Mewtwo's Sm4sh trophy didn't DQ Mewtwo.
