Yeah, there actually is. You can go in training mode and toss a smart bomb on the ground. When it explodes you want to try and DI you way out of it. You know you have decent DI if you can go from the center of it all the way out. If you've got two controllers, you can go to Corneria and go down below to the back of the ship. Then just have Falco lock you in his jab and practice escaping it.
As for momentum, you want to use your fastest aerial to escape hitstun, then DI perpendicular to the knockback so that you can get the longest possible flight path and keep yourself from dying. You also want to DI out of normal attacks like chaingrabs, multihitting attacks, jabs and other combo set-ups.
