  • Out of curiosity, would you say Marth's Dancing Blade is a good shield pressure option. I use it against my friends and it seems to work but they're scrubs like me. Also, NC pride!
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
it's an okay shield pressure option but it can't be a go-to often at all since if it's called out it can be punished often.
Since Apex you've been my new favorite player to watch, your Marth honestly makes every other Marth look outdated and I hope we can see more of him at Evo. And of course good luck, i'll be rootin' for ya buddy
Hey PP (I know I ask a lot of questions...my b), I've noticed a lot in your sets you are a very evasive Marth that waits for small openings and punishes it according. Also, I see that you like to wall out opponents with F-airs, D-tilt, Dash Dance, etc. Is this how you normally play the neutral against other people and where can I find information about specific matchups on the neutral? Thanks!
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
i actually try to force small openings and push those, but really the way you said works too
How would you compare the way you feel going into EVO to the feel of going into Apex?
    Kreygasmy?
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
i feel like i have maybe less focus (at this second anyway) and similar energy but more happiness and hype lol

    PPMD literally feeling Kreygasm confirmed

PP, is it possible to do a analysis on your stream so I can improve on it?
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
    yep its coming

    Pr0fessor Flash
Thanks PP, when do you usually stream btw? Also good luck at Evo

    Dr Peepee
not too much lately but a little after evo ill try to be making it some evenings in EST if that helps
Kevin I have complete and utter faith in you for Evo and I pray that you have as much confidence in yourself as I do. As a aside, which of the PPMD T-Shirts do you like better and in what colour? I'll be rooting for you!!
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
thank you!!! and mmm i suppose i like the doctor is in shirt more but i havent seen them in person lol
Hey PP, I really enjoyed your stream (I watched the archive, because I went to a big local tournament, which I got 13th) and I was thinking of a really interesting tech chase option as Marth where you can Dolphin Slash. I think people have done it before, but I want to know your thoughts of it being useful or not.
    Siccamende
    Siccamende
do you know what percentage dolphin slash would kill on spacies by any chance? Also, I wonder the limit to what DI can do before it becomes negligible to the punish, if that makes any sense. Maybe I should bring this up in the Marth threads, what do you think?
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
no idea especially with DI variance. it's worth bringing up in marth threads since those percents are always useful
    Siccamende
    Siccamende
Time to go on some Kadano threads because I don't know the exact knock back of Dolphin slash. I'll probably have my data around tomorrow.
The man,the Hero the doctor! My question to you is if you had to pick one person to win evo for melee 2015 which player would it be?(btw i love your marth play its just insane!!)also you can't choose yourself for the question lol
    Baggy_
    Baggy_
Oh yeah also in meleee do u believe fo is better than falco or he other way around
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
maybe fox is better but its still sorta close imo

cool im not too sure myself tbh i do know that m2k belives falcos better but im still not 100% sure
Hi ppmd, I've been studying high level matches recently and I've noticed that a lot of players will opt for roll OoS when they are being pressured. I always thought roll OoS is a straight up bad option and that there's always a better option. But can roll OoS be a good option? If so, are there any examples you could give me?

    p.s I hope you win EVO =)
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
roll is actually a super good option, but many people do it immediately under pressure or always at the same time and without doing other oos options. this makes it predictable.

    thanks! =)
I wish there was some place else I could ask you questions, as asking on SmashBoards feels awkward...
Anyways, I am very curious about how EVO is gonna turn out, and what might happen after. What I mean is HBox is taking a semi retirement, M2K's hands are deteriorating, Mango is being lazy and the swedes are taking over. What are your thought?
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
all is well. m2k can likely make a return, i believe mango will find renewed motivation after some time off, and the swedes will be dangerous but may get complacent. i also will be seeing terrific growth soon enough. plus new blood is coming up so the field only gets more exciting!
PPMD, has M2K taken you out in those Falco dittos yet? LOL
Happy to have such a good local player nearby, although I am a Smash 4 player.
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
    nope lolll

LOL looks like he doesn't get to sit at the desk like you yet
Hey PP, so I actually went to my first tournament ans I felt a huge surge of motivation to practice as much as I can to do better. One of the ways that I'm trying to do is Melee Netplay, because I don't go to tournaments that often. I was wondering if maybe, not on stream, I can play you to see how I "perform" with the best. I feel kinda confident about playing a Top 6 player. Is that okay with you? Maybe after EVO?
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
i dont have netplay lol but maybe one day
Hey PP, I've been feeling really depressed about my lack of improvement. I've been losing to one of my training partners for a year, and while his skill seems to skyrocket, mine seems to stagnate. I feel so lost and confused and really angry and sad. What can do?
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
did you do what he did? did you note the differences and apply them? talking about them isnt a guarantee
    victinivcreate1
    victinivcreate1
Well I did exactly what he did, beat up on level ones in 20XX and shadowbox

We play on PM wifi, idk if that makes a difference because he's able to do all of themis Falco stuff that I'm completely incapable of doing in PM, but in Melee i can.
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
unless you know exactly how he did it then you didnt do the same thing.

and yeah pm and melee you wont get the same effects since pm functions differently
hey PPMD, thanks in advance if you answer this question: i believe you said at some point that you like playing falco partially for all of the buttons you get to press. i've been appreciating recently how complex your marth ground movement can be. is this strictly a strategic choice, to obscure your position in regard to the stage, or an attempt to draw upon a similar kinetic experience to falco, or a bit of both?
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
mmmm it just sort of worked out that way for marth haha. i enjoy his ground movement because it lets me express the desire to get someone in a way falco cannot. it also lets me use movement ideas i came up with that falco can't benefit from as much.
    F
    Fashion
well the way you bring all of his dash dance options together is wonderful to watch. i had never seen a marth move with that same intensity and elegance before. it's very inspiring. so thanks for that! haha
Also, I really hope you can defend the USA from the Swedish invaders at EVO, because Mango doesn't seem like he's able to do so. Good luck at EVO, as I'll be cheering for you!
Hey PP, I was wondering if Wavedash back d-tilt could be useful for punishing approaches. I've tried doing it but it hasn't worked out for me. Maybe I am doing something wrong, or I could do something else?
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
it's okay, but it isn't a huge hitbox and only covers the ground. i prefer pivot fair and pivot grab or wd back into an action
Yo PeePee, what should I do as Marth when I CC a nair or anything from Fox? When I get it all I can really do is DTilt or UpB, and end up being punished anyways.

Should I even be crouching? Or is there a nerd secret I don't know about...
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
do the no impact land dj from the edge into fsmash/jab sometimes then for a mixup on edgeplay
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
jc grab for cc grab. you can shield grab instead also
    archurr0
    archurr0
Ah, JC grab... I had no idea, thanks. Thanks for the edgeplay tips as well. I wish there were a different platform to converse on, I have many helpless non-noob questions.
Hey PP, I'd like to ask you a couple of questions about Marth neutral game, if its ok with you.
    1. Running Dtilt. I'm having a hard time implementing this into neutral. Do you have drills to make sure this is being used effectively?
    2. Aggressive players. Those players that just run in and want to destroy me. I feel like I'm being drowned in a wall of pressure, any tips here in order to not be overrun?
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
    1. running dtilt takes a long time and lot of space to start up. use dashes back more and wd forward dtilt so dtilt is used in different ways.

    2. hit them as they approach or grab their approach. they can't beat your sword outright so control your space effectively before worrying about moving in.

Thank you PP, I'll be sure to use this information wisely, hope to see you do well at Evo =)
any little movement tips for falco like fastfalling to grab ledge ? should I be trying to wavesurf all the time ideally instead of going into run animation?
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
running or WD is fine. they both have different advantages
how can i apply wavedashes with my falco
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
wavedashes are good to help you adjust space forward quickly if you think you won't be attacked but otherwise they're better to use going backward so you can hit a fox/falco mainly coming in. also works if your back is turned vs many characters to reposition your utilt/bair
    NGUY (guitarstage)
    NGUY (guitarstage)
thx dude falcos wavedashes arent as straight forwards as marths
How Did you get good with marth and how long did it take you to get that good with marth??
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
I became skilled through practice, analysis, and tutoring. Once I seriously started working on the character I got him to do damage vs Armada in about a year and a half.
Hi! I'm a new falco player and I was wondering if there is a guide that you know of that will help me learn the different shield pressure styles? I can't seem to find any great videos or guides.
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
theres no guide to that sort of thing right now =(
read your post about mango westballz at mayhem and sdi... could you give a couple examples of why SDI was so important to that set? Im too bad to really pick it up much thanks for your time !

when one player got hit by a falco dair, look at whether they went in front or behind the falco. SDI. same deal with shine. those are the easiest examples. plus how far shine sends was also impacted by sdi. basically, look for when true combos get dropped and you can probably find sdi impact.
How do you go about shadowboxing? I want to improve my neutral game and alot of people tell me to start shadowbox but I do not know how to go about it.

Someone asked this recently. He replied:
"basically its about DD'ing outside of a cpu's range and avoiding their attacks. its also about fighting no opponent and imagining them counterattacking you and changing your game accordingly. ill give more specifics in time"
if you ever start giving skype lessons for a fee can i be first on your list?

LOL if i ever do something like that i imagine i can get you and lots of people

Something to consider what starcraft players do is get the students permission then stream the lesson... that way your getting a guaranteed fee + an hours worth of content+ and it really makes an entertaining stream people would eat that **** up $$$$$$$$$$. Kinda killing two birds with one stone and really efficient for your limited time. Love your falco man gl at evo !

hmmmm i see....ill keep that in mind. and thanks!
