it is very rare to find an unfurnished melee player like this...

thursday has the potential to be an amazing mix of players...
fiz/ksk- melee players who know the basics and need to learn the game better
josh- veteran player who is combo oriented and could use a little bit of patience/reading abilities...
lozr- heart of the catfish, needs to step it up vs tough competition
brandon- nub with unlimited potential

the biggest flaw in his game right now is either his edgeguarding abilities or the fact that he a little too f smash happy...

after losing he would say things like, "good stuff, you guys are really good" or "oh you were the fox? dang!" he wants more for sure. he missed the bus and walked back to his dorm, about 15 min away, cause he wanted more matches...he even said, "this is melee, i will play till my eyes bleed"

it is the little things i cant get over...

he knew he could shieldgrab my dash attack when it hit his shield cause he did it the first couple of times...

by the end of our session he was punishing it with dairs/nairs oos...wtf?

one time he had me in my shield by the edge and kept spacing ftilts on it until i rolled then dash attacked my roll to back air for the kill...

he said my fox was fast lol...he isnt used to dealing with the speed that comes with playing against spacies...this backs up his story of not playing anyone good, i guess...

but dont get too hyped, he isnt that good yet. i was winning the majority of matches with shiek although he beat my marth, peach, and falcon handily...

the biggest shocker, imo, is that he got so good without playing anyone near his lvl...

i wonder if he played with ali or peter or anyone else from charlotte and was just holding back information...

like i said before, if he has never played anyone competitively before then he is a prodigy...

if he has,then he is just an average smasher...

i mentioned smashboards and he said he was familiar with the site but never made an account...he said he goes on to find videos and read the character boards...i told him lozr was coming up thursday and he said he cant wait to play him...he didnt believe us when we said lozr ***** us lol...he was really surprised that he was dropping matches to us...he thought he was hot stuff...if he is telling the truth about his background he could be hot stuff lol...i could get him soooo **** with just little pointers here and there

ksk was browsing facebook and found this guy at ecu whose status was "****** kids at melee". ksk sent him a message and set up a time for us to play. the guy said he had 4 friends who all preferred melee to brawl. to minimize risk ksk said that we were brawl players that dabbled in melee (true to a sense as we both began with brawl). the plan was to meet at 6:30 at tear these scrubs up...boy were we wrong. ksk and his friends got there early and were messing around in brawl when he showed up with his crew. he said he played a little brawl and preceded to play a 1 on 1 with ksk's friend who isnt that good. (ksk told him his friend was the best of us at brawl lol) the new guy 3 stocked him and then turned to his groupies and made the cutthroat motion as if we were no big deal rofl. i picked up my controller and showed him who had the biggest snake. after my jv3 victory put my roommate on the floor laughing, this new guy said, "just wait till melee". me and ksk were completely fine with that. ksk went first and they fox dittoed. ksk 1 stocked him in a very close match. i went next and beat his marth with shiek. our match was last hit. turns out falco is his best character and he is pretty ****. he took a couple of matches of me and ksk. all the matches were close. the thing i cant get over is the fact that he said he has never played competitively. he is hands down the best scrub i have ever seen. he had nice tech skill (shine>waveland on platform for example), good shield pressure, decent pillar combos, amazing understanding of stage control(wtf?), and sub-par edge guarding skills. he knew all of the pros and said he really wanted to meet you. you are the reason he plays falco and jeff is the reason he seconds falcon lol. keep in mind he said he has never played anyone good before. he is a freshman and comes from Charlotte...i saw a bunch of similarities in our play styles and in the few teams matches we played together we complimented each other very well considering the circumstances. he was saving me and following up on my attacks lol. either this guy is a troll or a prodigy. i hope the latter is true.
