  • uhh.. most likely one at a time til we've got a good amount of information about the particular match up. Then we'll move on to the next. I'm going to make the thread tmr.
Only at the top. I did it to M2K like a pro. But if we're trying to approach him while he's grounded, at any time he can up-b and force us to retreat.
Haha, can you blame them? The move can shut us down pretty handily >_>.
That's interesting -- I can't retain information like that. If I get myself too into the matchup and stuff, I'll do terrible against any matchup that I face after . I think that's the biggest reason why I try and fight the player, not the character as it were. I get myself into bad habits too easily
See, at that point I think it's more beneficial to take a step back and ask yourself "WTF just happened." Ask yourself why your approaches were shut down, why you got destroyed, why you got read like you did. I'd rather focus on that than "I should pick Rainbow Cruise to mess with them." because then even if you lose, you're still walking away with something that is much more important than a win in the long run.
I find CPing is overrated to an extent. A lot of people use CPing as a crutch, a tool to gimp the opponenent enough to win -- I prefer to take them to the stage they beat me on (or if it's a stupid stage, a neutral) and prefer to beat them that way. That's my outlook, anyway -- I learn from my losses pretty quickly.
Don't worry about it. Match Up / Q+A threads I've created in the past have all been successful. :)
I would create a discussion environment where everyone could learn and exchange ideas. We will talk about counter picks, and stages to avoid. Pretty much anything important to jigglypuff's metagame. I'll keep the most important stuff on the OP and uhh.. yeah :D

I can most likely start on Monday. I have a busy weekend ahead
Yes. i would have no problem running the match up thread. I have one on the Melee Peach boards. Just tell me when and we can start fixing the Jigglypuff boards.

    :colorful:
I hate it. He out prioritizes everything we have, is significantly faster, and his up-B pretty much nullifies every possible approach. Definitely harder than G&W (my personal favorite match-up). MK has so many early kill options, and all of his kill moves are impossible to see coming, sans the f-smash. That and the multiple jumps for d-air camping makes the match extremely un-fun. G&W has predictable kill moves, you can grab him between the last 2 hits of the turtle, and drill rest is pretty much guaranteed. I have yet to see a G&W DI or shield a drill rest...
Also: have the boards picked up at all? Is it worth returning, or is it still dead and worthless?
Yep, I caught them live a while back and dug them, and Brutal Legend has got this song stuck in my head right now. Solid band. . . but wow, they're short.

It's funny, the first time I saw them live there was like 30 people in a tiny little venue, and I chatted with them and everything, solid time. Next time, it was to a crowd of over 50,000 opening for Maiden and Deathklok. It's ridiculous how far the band has come, and I wish them all the success. Really, really chill guys
Planking's too good. That's mostly why I've been playing more Smash 64 than ever. Try being defensive in that game, lol, it won't work.
Well, it is a plank >_> (I assume that's what you were going for (I'm a stickler for the obvious))
Haha, it's the clown from Brave Little Toaster. It's totally random and I love it.
Very much so. I got him to 1 stock the first match, but after that could only get him down to 2. Never got 3 stocked though :D
Haha yeah it's the off season for me. Band takes up most of my fall quarter, but I'll be more active come winter. Now that M2K has moved to Ohio I'm gonna try to play him as much as possible. Got a few friendlies in at the MWC event, gave him a little trouble until he figured out the match-up. Still was able to drill rest him on command though lol
Yeppers. Hardcore main actually. Went to a Midwest Circuit Event last Saturday, almost beat Rofa and nearly took a game off of Pierced.
Yep. It's crazy how active it was when Veril was around.

It's funny, I've been out of the tourney loop for a bit since I moved to Ottawa, and all the other old Jiggs mains (Aside from Thinkaman) have quit playing or moved onto Brawl+ or whatever. Jiggs rankings went from above Samus, Lucas, Gdorf, and a ton of other characters, to last and second last in Ankoku's thread.

Jiggs hasn't gotten any worse, people are just giving up. And around here, at least, it seems Brawl is starting to die out for other, more traditional, fighters.
That's what's great about rising pounds -- we can get around the limit by jumping then pounding twice. Use about 3 jumps then regrab, you'd be amazed at how much time that buys -- just be careful once the opponent comes for you. You don't want to get spiked, it's the most embarrassing thing ever for a Jiggs.
Yeah, but I'd fight it. Why put yourself at a disadvantageous position if you're winning? You're not stalling, you're keeping your options fresh and at full potential. If nothing is happening, it's because of the opponent -- not you. It's their job to get in and try and get that lead, you shouldn't be punished for winning. I've argued with TO's about it pretty fiercely before. I've never been DQed though.
Haha, you know why? because you mess up an approach

That's the problem! Never approach if you can help it
I'm thinking that match could become a bit easier in the future. If you can get that damage lead on him, he doesn't have a lot of options to chase us down.
Oh, it's the worst ditto this side of DeDeDe. I hate it so much. I'd rather play a Game & Watch than another Jiggs.
Actually, yeah. Jiggernaut and I came from the same region, we used to Jiggs ditto all the time. I believe I'm ahead of him in sets, but it's close.

Except in tourneys. . . I always sweep him in tourneys when I play gay
Ambrose is THE most notable. He's one of the best IC's around, not just Canada, but North America. He's beaten Lain a couple times, but Lain is better.
Way more viable. Air camping, planking, and G-Reg's edge-loving are the most important aspects of her game. She dies too early, trading hits is never worth it. So why go out of your way, approach, and risk taking damage when you can play gay, minimize all risks, hang out where her best strengths can thrive (off stage), and kill earlier via gimps or stage spikes. Is it gay? Yes. Is it effective? Mostly yes. There are a few characters that can overcome her gay play -- noticeably Pit and ROB with their aimable projectiles and great recoveries. . . but those were never terribly difficult matchups anyway.
Ice Climbers. Stereotypically enough, Canada is full of these ****** buggers . I have absolutely no qualms timing out IC's.
Well, if you have any questions or need any input just toss me a message. I'll gladly share what I can.
I handed over control because I was tired of doing all the work on the boards, and basically don't want to be part of the Jiggs community any longer. I'm basically just there to troll and call people on bull****. It felt useless trying to contribute when everyone would just respond with "Jiggs sucks, don't use her."

But I didn't give up on Jiggs -- not one bit, in fact, I've been playing her more seriously than ever.
Depends on the stage / matchup, but I have been known to. On a stage like Delfino, plank until a change happens, air camp the change, plank when the main platform comes back. It's gay, but it's almost unbeatable.
Haha, I know. It's legitimately effective. I've been placing well with her lately, and I owe it all to air camping . Play gay for pay.
In small stakes tourneys like biweeklies, usually top 3. In bigger regional events, around top 9. In nationals, usually around 13th. That's average, I do fluctuate depending on who I face, etcetera.

In doubles, in small stakes tourneys I'm either first or second. In regionals usually top 3, and nationals top 5.

Haha, I think that's a bit more info than you were looking for :p
Retreating airdodges, land when you can, but only if you can do so safely, and poke with bair, fair or pound when they chase. On a level with a pass through floor, like Brinstar, Delfino, or Halberd, you can stay under and poke with Uairs, retreat to the ledge to refresh your jumps when safe.

Stay high up, but always save enough jumps to get out of trouble. And just float around. If they chase, use your aerial speed and maneuverability to just pull away from them and force them into a bad position for chasing you. If safe, I sometimes airdodge through them and buffer a bair to prevent them from sticking too close to me.
haha, that match was lolz anyway. That was hardly indicative of my skill.
Vids? I know I've been recorded, but I have no idea when, if ever, they'll get posted up. I have videos of me vs Metaknights, Falcos, Toon Links, Holy Nightmare's ROB, but like I said, I have no idea when they'll get hosted online.
