DDD's neutral b destroys mines. If there isn't a person there and he tries to suck up a mine, the game will go glitchy. I'm pretty sure this has been known for quite some time, unless I misunderstood your post.

You'd be surprised how much you can get this off in tournament if your opponent does not have a great recovery and if they don't see it coming. I once killed a Marth in tournament by spiking him with the box.
