In the end, I think Persona 2 is the strongest of the main series, followed by 3, then 4, then 1. Interested in 5 and how it turns out; the art style alone looks gorgeous.
Persona has always had great music as well, I'm somewhat into P2 portable and every now and then I just sit and listen to the music, then switch from the remixed to the original and both versions are great.

Persona 4 was very different from the other games until it got to the very end game. Sometimes I wish I could just start at the endgame of P4 because I actually enjoyed that part more than the rest of the game.

Who even enjoys Persona? Not trying to nait or ****. I'm curious on why people like it.

I don't like it, but i see everyone else differ.
I never really played the Persona games, tbh.

I have gotten the chance to play P4 Arena at out new bi-weekly venue here in San Antonio though and it seemed like a fun fighting game overall, if a little over the top. The singer girl that fought with a microphone + Stand was really interesting in how she seemed to play and seemed really fun as well. But I hate hate hate arcade sticks. The had USF4 up last time I was there and god it felt so bad.

And while I am talking about games they had there. Guilty Gear (think it was Xrd) seems fun, liked the girl that fought with the roses and guns as she seemed really fun to use with an interesting playstyle but I still hate arcade sticks. Why is SF 3rd Strike so ****ing fast. Skull Girls seemed kinda meh of the little I got to lay of it, though Fukaua or w/e her name is seemed kinda fun, didn't get to play it that much though so wasn't able to get a strong impression either way. And I can't figure out Tekken, but I kinda blame that on the arcade stick lol.

I'm a pad "warrior" apparently lol.

I actually play SG with a pad. Some games feel better with a pad compared to a stick.

Funny enough, as you mentioned her, Fukua's also my current avatar.

i think its hilarious how in persona 3 you can sleep with all 3 of your female dorm mates all living under the same roof, and none of them even know, this was easily the most entertaining part for me

persona 3's battle music is grating
the persona crafting system encourages save scumming and is designed to cause lots of hours drafting and re-drafting the same persona over and over again to get it to inherit the right skills instead of garbage
the persona system also basically requires a guide
the singular dungeon gets rather same-y
daytime and nightime sections seem to take place in two different games (why do i need to build courage up, when my guy fights back evil, demonic beings born from the darkness of people's hearts? wouldn't you NEED courage to even think about doing that? don't get me started on that one scene when junpei goes with you to meet shinjiro)
the ending lacked delivery, and seemed like it didn't know how to end the game
i fight with the friendly ai as much as i do the enemy ai (no mitsuru i dont care about marin karin. by you wasting a turn doing a debuff that barely works and is barely worth it, you end up being less effective by not dealing damage or outright killing the enemy with bufudyne. in fact, none of the debuffs in this game are worth using unless they are tied to an attack)
none of the characters were able to explain to me in-game why school is just as important as saving the world from the goddamn rapture
the game itself repeats itself rather quickly, and there's not a lot of exploration or anywhere to go really, besides the exact same areas that you went to in the beginning (the interlude areas dont count)
why the hell hasnt the police officer retired yet, i've given him more money than bill gates will ever have in his life, even factoring in the yen > dollar transfer rate
half a million yen for a damn sword? who the hell does this guy think he is

iunno i guess i dont understand japanese media

overall i enjoyed the game 6/10

skullgirls is a great game, the only problem is i have absolutely nobody to play it with, and i dont like playing online unless it's with people i know

fukua, the april fools joke clone character that became a reality

I've played them all (well, the mainline ones. Not some of the stuff like First Mission, a JP only cell phone game, but most of them):
  • Persona 1 isn't that great, it's decent. PSP version does it some justice, but the PS1 version, Revelations, is atrocious. Cut out a lot of things, including an entire campaign.
  • Persona 2 is amazing, and by far my favorite. The story and characters are really nice and it's split over two very long games. Sadly, the PSP version of Eternal Punishment was canned outside of JP for weird reasons, but the original version can be played on the PSN). Innocent Sin's PSP version came to US and is a great remake. I recommend playing it above all the others. Of the duology, I do like EP more.
  • Persona 3 is good. Of the PS2 games, I think it's got much better gameplay, but the story isn't as well written as 4's at times. FES changes up some of the stuff, adding new things and changing elements from the original (like a lot of the tests), and adds a new campaign with more dungeons. Portable lacks the second campaign but gives you Minako as a protagonist.
  • Persona 4... is, well, 4. While I certainly think Naoto is amazing and all, the gameplay is kind of lacking. There's much less dungeon-exploring. Story is very well written, and so are some of the characters, but I didn't think the twist was... that great, to be honest. It's much easier than 3 and a lot more merciful in difficulty. Heck, even the Ultimate Boss isn't as difficult if I want to go that far. Golden adds a lot of content, but very little dungeon wise (literally one dungeon). It caused some division for reasons that would happen given the direction this game took, down to the nitty gritty things.
  • Q is essentially an EO game with Persona elements, and it's solid. Very fanservcice-y on the aspect of seeing the P3 and P4 cast together.
  • 4 Arena is made by Arc, and Arc makes amazing fighting games. Enough said.
  • P4D doesn't really have any reason to exist but it does. At least some of the character designs are nice, but the gameplay is like a toned down Project DIVA. Just get Deemo instead.
In the end, I think Persona 2 is the strongest of the main series, followed by 3, then 4, then 1. Interested in 5 and how it turns out; the art style alone looks gorgeous.

Overall, I get why people don't like them over the mainline SMT games. It's a little toned down (especially the later titles in the series) compared to SMT's combat, it lacks the morality choices for the most part, etc.

I'm going to try and go out tomorrow to get a Steam card for Skullgirls even though I only really have a GCN controller and a ****ty laptop. Hype yea.

I'll probably have more luck playing with the keyboard lmao.

GCN controller for fighting games isnt that bad if you get a button config that works well for you(which is kinda hard for me), the main benefit are the notches in the analog that make it real easy to tell what direction youre holding for inputs

I still much rather prefer my DS4 controller though

Edit: So on a completely unrelated note I tried sitting in the pose Geralt does in the Witcher 3 main menu, it hurts like hell, would not recommend

I've been testing out with MUGEN because it's the only TFG type game I have at the moment, the lack of a left shoulder button kind of messes me up but it's actually decent.

Oh don't worry. Until I save up enough to get a decent stick for PS4, I'm stuck being a... being a... a Pad Warrior.

I can "do things" (I'm terrible at fighters) on pad, but I'm just more comfortable on sticks. Plus six button fighters are disgusting on pads.

Play me scrub. You'll lose to a pad warrior.
I once played a rock... it beat me 9-1. It just felt that bad for me that it let me win a game. I'm sure you'd beat me even harder. Nah I'll stick to doing challenge mode until I feel comfortable.

New Rayman game based on Legends for mobile. They also released two other games like this before: Rayman Jungle Run and Fiesta Run, which were auto-run level-based platformers, and VERY good at that, but this one looks more like an actual platformer.

It all sounds good and crap, but it was recently released as a soft launch in NZ and guess what? GUESS FU**ING WHAT? "FREE" TO PLAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Timers, dual currencies and in order to reach some of the collectibles you need to buy consumable power-ups.

I'm so... this is so... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

Properly performing the seiza position is SUPPOSED to be uncomfortable, you know, though it gets easier with practice.
Tradition!~

Dream Journal Entry #27

I had this dream where I was on this college campus, I think. I was out on its football field with somebody, I forget who but a student who could run the lights. It was dusk transitioning to night and we were turning off the majority of the outside lights to reduce light pollution, allowing us to see most of the stars in the sky. We were right outside this building, and the person went inside of it for a minute to get someone else. Well, they ended up taking longer than anticipated, so I opened the door to peer inside and all I saw were flashing red lights and smelled some weird chemicals. Apparently there was a chemical leak so I ran away from there to another part of the school, and entered this other building to learn there was a 'code red'. I was given a hazmat suit, and several other students and I were all escorted to this other school for the time being.

I forget most of what happens next but then I'm at this school, and I see this other kid from my school and we just talk about whatever. My phone was missing its SD card I think, and I swear that I woke up, checked my phone for a second, then went back to sleep rofl. This went to another dream where I was driving and these military helicopters shaped like trapezoids were flying dangerously close to main road traffic as part of an exercise for some reason. I was driving past, and this guy who was fed up with the aircrafts tried driving into them but hit me instead. I ended up on the side of the road, and my friend Jeff drove by as this was happening (he had my nephews in the back seat of his car for some reason despite never meeting them) and pulled me out back onto the road. Today's dreams kinda sucked ass.

I am having fun with Yatagarasu so far. Aja is life, Aja is olve.
I've been watching some videos on YouTube and the game looks hella fun. It seems to rely too much on resets though. At least the ninja guy with Kyo's fireball.

Buuuut I have too many games I have to finish and in some cases even start.
