Gee, I wonder what I've been talking about a lot recently?world/fantasy/
To add on to r_greening1's suggestions, there's also The Witcher 3 which might be a bit weird since you probably wouldn't have played the previous games which are PC-only with the second game having an Xbox 360 release. Speaking of games that have prequels on older systems, Nier and Nier: Automata and Ni no Kuni and Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom. Nier's been talked about in this thread, but to sum it up, it's made by the developers of Drakengard, continues off of one of the endings, and like Drakengard and anything Cavia touches, it's messed up in a Berserk sort of way. Ni no Kuni was a collaboration between Level-5, the developers of Dark Cloud, Layton, and Rogue Galaxy, and Studio Ghibli. I think the newer Tales games are open-world, but some of them are still available on PS3 like Tales of Zestria and the upcoming Tales of Berseria. Same dealio with stuff like Dragon Age: Inquisition and Shadow of Mordor which were on PS3 and Xbox 360. There's also Dragon Quest Builders if you want Dragon Quest: MineCraft Edition. Also, if you want a Dark Souls-style game that's out now -- so, not Nioh which is coming out next year --, check out Lords of the Fallen. Apparently, Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness was released already... so there's that too. Since they're on PS4, please check out Bastion and Transistor. At the very least, you will hear amazing music. Heh, if you get a PS4, then that means you can play Overwatch.
Not sure about how you feel about "old-school", hack 'n' slash RPGs, but there's Diablo III and Divinity: Original Sin. People do say those games are more suited for PCs because of how they work, but you can still play them and the developers probably tuned them so they're not stupid -- I remember reading about how console Diablo III were given stuff that PCs don't or didn't have access to like a dodge button. They are pretty much open world; games like them and Zelda way back in the day were the open-world games. They might not have been third-person or first-person like recent open-world games, but they were open nevertheless.
Anyway, Final Fantasy X's A Fleeting Dream is haunting and sad. World of Final Fantasy's rendition of it manages to make it even more haunting and sadder. It's the strings that literally tug at your heart strings and it's a different feel than the woodwinds? used in the original and remaster versions. Thing is I don't think I ever got to the part where it plays in FFX; the furthest I got was Mt. Gagazet, so I don't remember where I heard it. Probably by watching Dissidia. It and Zanarkand, especially the orchestral version, gives me goosebumps whenever I hear them since they're melancholic and filled with emotion. Man... why did I sell FFX thinking that I would get the remaster soon and man do I want to play World of Final Fantasy.
On a brighter note, I think if and when I get KoF: XIV, I'd like to have Alice on my team. She's so goofy while being badass.
