Level 8 CPUs are my preferred targets since Level 9s love to be a step ahead of the game and predict everything you do.
CPUs aren't always the best for practicing though, as they can lead to bad habits in your play or the CPUs themselves tend to do stupid stuff.

When you say that I understand now.

Cuz I was thinking not even Zelda's wish lists are THAT greedy smh. :^)
*Changes that would make Shulk top tier
22/24% backslash.... In vanilla? Do you understand what that would do?

In buster...
30.8/33.6%

In hyper buster...
insert billy and mandy img here (on mobile in bed)
37/40.3%
Well, when you think about its (sad) frame start up, it's sort of balanced. Idk.

I was gonna comment on this but then I thought about how characters like Diddy, Sheik, Luigi, Meta Knight, etc. can do that much damage in a combo and don't have to commit to a laggy as balls move with 30 frames of startup to do it.

It is pretty silly though.

Laggy as balls move that needs to be landed on the back

So in the Shulk boards' patch discussion, we've came up with our wish lists. What do you guys think?
I mean like every character needs moves that are just downright useless. Even Diddy Kong has moves like utilt, nair, fthrow, bthrow that I don't see used at all. Shiek's dair, bthrow, Burst Grenade aren't used very much at all. Sonic has dair and utilt, Fox's fsmash isn't really used a lot afaik, etc... The only character that I can think of off the top of my head whose moves are all semi-useful is Rosalina, and even then fair is only really used after a fthrow/bthrow and utilt becomes nigh useless after Luma's gone.

These changes make all of his moves viable and good and if this stuff happened Shulk would instantly become top tier

Is it really that laggy a startup? It's been a while, but I remember being caught by it a couple of times and catching a few people with it as a mixup. I thought the reason why you never used it was because the reward didn't match up to the risk on miss/block.

It felt like a DK fsmash to me, which is slow, but not that slow.

Well, let's take a look at the magical frame data of truth

Shulk's Back slash (Frame 31)
Donkey Kong's F-smash (Frame 22)

I was reading the recent stuff on Pokemon and I have to say gen 4 has the weirdest by far. I mean, DIALGA. IT LITERALLY SOUNDS LIKE IT'S DEFLATING. Giratina's sounds pretty, but it's too pretty for Giratina. Drifblim also has a weird cry that seems to last as long as Jynx's. Most of gen 4's cries are bad, or just sound inappropriate for the animal or object it's supposed to represent.
Or you're Froslass.

All those moves aside from maybe Sheik's dair are perfectly fine. Diddy's nair in particular is a crazy move and the only reason you don't see it often is because it's on a character with nothing but crazy moves (there's still reason to use it though; I've seen ZeRo use it to trap airdodges). Landing nair is near lagless and sets up uair combos for free. Diddy's bthrow is also a good kill throw particularly considering most opponents are DIing expecting dthrow.

Yeah, pretty laggy. The only times most Shulk's are gonna land it are with a good read, whether you're punishing a dodge roll behind or baiting a jump back towards you from a B-Throw to punish with Back Slash. Or if you wanna be gutsy and use it off stage for a cool KO.

Guys, how are you supposed to learn and get better at Smash? I just got bodied by someone good and I learned nothing from playing them
You learn from it after you think about what you did, or when you watch a replay of it (if it was saved)

It's just like learning anything else, learn from your mistakes and apply what you learned the next time. I always save replays of matches I have with other people from the Zelda boards, if I can remind myself to. Observe what you're doing wrong, ask how you should get around it, then get out and practice getting around it. Ask your opponent what you could improve in, they obviously caught on to what you did wrong, or they wouldn't have beat you. It's easier said than done, but it's the only true way to improve.

Speaking of replays I should probably record some stuff I've got before the patch hits.

Sadly it'll be potatophone quality but oh well.

I grabbed Villager when she started using the bowling ball and it still hit me. I died while I was in the middle of dthrowing her LOL
wtf Villager
Well it's a projectile, so you probably caught her in between letting it go and the bowling ball hitting you.

Oh I should add this to the stuff about getting better, but I'll say it here cuz I'm lazy, don't be afraid of posting or sharing a replay for all of us to see. Ones who are more experienced can see bad stuff you might be doing better than you will, and in general more opinions won't hurt.

I know it's a stupidly slow move so I really only have myself being bad to blame for it but

why does the bowling ball kill so goddamn early

kills like 50% earlier than MK's fsmash despite being about the same speed and being a projectile that can edgeguard recoveries, and it's just as lagless as MK's fsmash to boot
